Here I am again Shoot, I have tried so many times. Here I am again. It's been 1.5 days smoke free. What is so amazing about quitting, even if for one day, is the big difference in how you feel after just 24 hours. I hope I can make it this time. 1 day, 10 hours, 10 minutes and 43 seconds smoke free. 36 cigarettes not smoked. $3.25 and 6 hours of your life saved. ![]()

A post from another forum that helps quitters: To those who’re kicking and screaming all the way, whining and pining for a smoke… Just what is it you think you're missing? If you’ve been a couple weeks quit, you're over the purely physical "need" for one, so what is it you think a cigarette is going to give you? This is what you need to find out b/c therein lies the key to your unrest. The only thing a cigarette will give you is the need to have another. Any magical properties you believe they have are properties you have attributed to it, and they are illusions. Stop believing in them. They are lies, misunderstandings, untruthful perceptions based on years of drug abuse. That's the first part. The second part is to get the option to smoke off the table. It’s more than likely that you’ve left the door open a crack and deep inside, you're flirting w/ the idea of having one. I did the same thing and I will tell you that the sooner you slam that door shut, the quicker the battle will be over. This whole chaotic I Can't Take It temper tantrum craving thing? Stop it. You're experiencing feelings, not life and death "cravings". You experience all kinds of feelings in your life: cold, loneliness, loss, pain, agony, hunger, fear....these are just more of the same, only these are based on lies, a false perception. You certainly will NOT die from them, or go mad, or kill someone. So stop it. Smoking got you here; smoking can not get you out. Smoking is the cause of your misery; smoking can not be the cure as well. And before you think I'm arrogant, cold, and heartless, let me say this: I'm walking this road with you. I have been where you are and I have clung to these same words, the words others gave me along the way. They saved my life. Quit believing in cigarettes. Cling to what's real. You can do this. Hugs, jules 4M+ --------------------------------------------- jules now at 9M+ free and grateful!

DAY 5 Feeling scared and wanting to smoke all day long. Funny thing is, I did NOT give in and smoke. Night time, when everyone;s in bed was my favorite time to light up. I could smoke when everyone else was asleep and not listen to the coffs and whining from family. Now, I will go to bed early and not sit up and want to smoke. Smoking does not help anything. It makes everything in your life worse. Looking forward to noon tomorrow where I will pass day 6

Day 6 smoke free. It's getting better! I have a few craves here and there, but I am not going through hysterical crying and wanting to slap someone stupid just for looking at me. I would rather be a non smoker with an occasional craving to smoke than a smoker with a constant desire to quit.

congrats on your success so far Wascally. I like how you were making a financial calculation and life saved calculation, its a good method of encouragement. I may suggest that to someone I know who's trying to quit, just to let them sit back and quantify their success, as something to guage on!

I made it through H3LL week! 7 days behind me. It's getting easier, or at least it is for today. I know full well that this is a journey like any other addiction. It's just the hardest addiction of all. I am losing the desire to smoke. I know there will be a few days more of not feeling right, wanting to smoke, having cravings, but LIFE is worth so much more than suffering and dying of cancer like my father did. Lung cancer! He died at 54.
