Day One: Cold Turkey, I'm quitting again - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

They say that smokers usually quit several times before they quit for good. I've lost track on how many times that I've tried...
I used the Chantix last time and was silly enough to pick up cause I thought that I could just have a few.
But I've decided to just do it this time. I've weaned over the last few days and today is day 1 smoke free.

Reasons...
money, health, kids want me to quit, the mother in law has lung CA(which has been in remission, maybe active again), cheaper insurance, fresh breath, don't smell like smoke, food tastes better!

I know that the cravings last about 10 minutes....I've got some life savers to help with the oral obsession. I'm drinking tea instead of coffee in the mornings. I'm not doing nicotine replacement because it's so expensive, and even after you've quit then you still have to withdraw from the nicotine.

I quit last time for 5 months, with the Chantix. However, it made me crazy....

I guess I'm starting my own thread, to make myself accountable!

Pray for those people that I come into contact with over the next 72 hours as I'm detoxing...LOL

Good for you Cindi!
I was on Chantix for two weeks and stopped...it just threw my system off too much. But I was grateful it helped me through the hard days.
I've recently accepted that I can do this long term if I want to bad enough...and I have to want it bad enough.
Its been since mid January that I "smoked" routinely. I've had a few slips since then but managed to get back on track within the day.
I seems to get better each week.

I quit last time for 5 months, with the Chantix. However, it made me crazy....

I'm curious...the Chantix made you crazy? How so?

I have a script for the chantix too. I'd be interested in your experience too, if you'd care to share how it made you "crazy."
