...wow.

Got into my journaling this morning and realized -
I've been going at this for almost SIX MONTHS so far.

I've gone from over two packs of smokes a day -
to five days with none.

But it's taken this long.
And is a habit/addiction...
I've had far longer than I had drinking.

This is NOT ONE SMIDGEN LESS the complete and total life overhaul...
that quitting drinking was.

But it's not one speck less the change requirement.

And -
I am also day SEVEN off 'obvious' sugars -
and the two ... are going well together.
You'd 'think' it'd be the opposite -
but without the sugar ...
I don't want the nicotine, either.

There may not be a connection with everyone -
bgut there
s most certainly one .. in the center of THIS universe.

Hi Barb, glad to hear you're succeding...congratulations. Yes nicotine is an addiction, a tough one. I've been battling it off and on since Sept of 2006. But I'm not giving up. GH

Glad to hear you're doing good!!! I'm at 6 days and, after reading your post, will do something about the sugar, though I really haven't been eating that much. Heck, I'll try anything to not have to go through this again.

At work last night, a guy was in his car at the drive-thru window, with my brand of cigarettet hanging out of his mouth.....I just wanted to drool, but walked away How pitiful is that?!

Thank you for saying that - I may be one like you.
But I'm NOT giving up - and I WILL keep trying.

I'm trying to modify behaviours ... as they reveal themselves as well.

barb, many years ago when I tried to quit smoking, thats when I found the SMART program. It wasn't actually for my addiction to pills, but for the smoking. It really helped me modify my behaviors.

Also, I have found it harder to quit smokes than any other drug I've been on. Period. So know others do understand your struggle.

You're not stupid for quitting over and over and over......neither am I. I figure at least we are smoking a lot less than we used to, so that is good, right. Hey....progress, not perfection.

We'll get stopped one day. I'm doing okay right now but that's because I'm at home with no cigarettes. It will be a different story when I get to work and there are 3-4 people with a pack of cigarettes.

As long as we keep trying, we're not losers or stupid, okay?
