hey guys... i'm giving up cigs along with booze. i quit drinking for 15 days back in december and continued to smoke. this was a problem,,,,as i think it is a trigger for me. i was mostly smoking when drinking....so to quit one i think i have to quit the other to avoid a relapse. this is day 2 and i am angry at the world! i don't think it is about the booze cause i never got this cranky before when i gave it up, but i woke up and have stayed annoyed! how long does this last? i wasn't smoking huge amounts either...so i'm hoping it will be a quick physical detox. any input would be appreciated!

Hi! I quit 4-1/2 days ago and yesterday (day 3) was the worst...everyone and everything annoyed me. Today is better, but I just want to sleep all day. Sorry I can't be of more help....I quit for 3-4 years at a time years and years ago, but don't remember. I was smoking a pack/day. Good luck!! Amy

I had quit the tobacco Sept of 2006 and quit drinking June of 2007. In the last month I've began smoking and drinking again. I hit a rough spot and fell back on my old "cruthes" The only bad thing is these "cruthes" can kill me. I've got to find my way back. I'm planning to start the Chantix January 14th and I don't know if Chantix is compatable with booze, so I guess I better try to get sober again too. GH

The physical detox from nicotine is only three days. It's the psychological "detox" that's much more difficult. Try meditation, yogo, progressive relaxation, exercise, (which will also stave off weight gain), and other hobbies. All of these althernative behaviors will keep your mind off smoking and give you something to do besides smoking. It's all about behaviors. Do something different. ![]() Best of luck to you. And remember, if you don't succeed at first, keep trying. This is one time when the quitter is the winner! ![]() Shalom!
