| The Bullseye | Hemi - Day 110 Where are you fellow quitters? Remember, what you told me about being in AA. The purest form of an AA member is someone who is free from "All Mind Altering Substances." That means no Caffeine no Nicotine.

Tstorm08-Day 8 I'm doing good so far. Occasionally think about it. Had one bad morning at work, but didn't give in. I started my 5th week of Chantix today. So far, so good. No upset stomach. Did have 2 different nightmares last night, but not sure it was from Chantix. I do occasionally have one. I feel another month or two, and I'll be able to go it alone. |

No caffine!!!! ![]() That'll never happen here, for sure! ![]() I'm on day 8 again. But, if I hadn't have relapsed for those three months, these would be my stats: Two years, four months, three weeks, one day, 1 hour, 12 minutes and 10 seconds. 34922 cigarettes not smoked, saving $9,603.09. Life saved: 17 weeks, 2 days, 6 hours, 10 minutes. Ain't that a byatch? I'm feeling really good, though. Still coughing; as my lungs want to clean out the crap I've been filling them with. Tstorm, I've never had any nightmares or stomach problems with the Chantix. In fact, I've only had the benefits of not wanting a cigarette! I think it's the best thing since sliced bread! ![]() Remember to keep the quit and post before you puff! :>) Shalom!

I'll be skipping the roll cal. I've occassionally picked up a non nicotine cig to move past the moment. I won't punish myself though. I'm more interested in changing my way of life rather than counting quit days. A cop out perhaps, but I'm happy with my progress. I didn't do so well with the Chantix. But I did have to give up the caffiene, simply because it intensified the anxiety. I don't think I suffered much, but you maywant to ask my coworkers lol

Cece, you have to do what works for you. Not everything works the same for everyone. Chantix is working for me. I'm very thankful because I don't think I could have quit otherwise. I quit once for 6 weeks, and was miserable.

I'm starting Chantix either today or tomorrow. It's May 1 so that would be an easy day to remember but I'm reading up on it first (procrastinating?). I've been to the website and signed up for the support and downloaded the log but damn I'm nervous for some reason. I've heard some people have great dreams and others have nightmares. Any explanation for that from your prescribing doctors?

I didn't mind the vivid dreams, but they weren't nightmares. My biggest problem was digestive (bloating, gas, indigestion) to the point I was countig the days I could get off of it. It was then I decided to try and stick it out. If I would have failed, I would have given Chantix another try. Wow everyone, great quits!

Wow everybody - that's GREAT! I'm beginning to get excited after reading all the good results. I had some dreams last night. I don't remember if they were good or bad. I think I will feel so liberated when I don't have to save $3.00 for smokes every day or worry about going to the store.

For me the key was this: no matter how I feel, no matter how strange or uncomfortable or weird or angry or sad or anything, I know I don't want to smoke anymore, so I'm not going to smoke a cigarette. I'm not allowing myself to expect to feel a certain way. And I refuse to control how I feel by smoking. I'm just going with it, and not fighting how I feel. I'm in the strange, trippy land of "not-smoking". And wherever I happen to find myself on this journey (emotionally), I'm not going to fight. No matter how bad I felt, it's OK by me. As a result, I haven't had any real craving to smoke at all. I occasionally miss the taste of tobacco, but that's it. I don't miss smoking because I was truly sick of smoking. |

Well, I was on day 3 then I had two cigarettes on Saturday and two on Sunday. I am 28 days sober, and this is what I'm most proud of. I ordered the Allen Carr book (I think he actually asks you to smoke during one of the chapters?), and will try to run together a real streak once that happens. I usually don't smoke much during the weekdays, so hopefully I'll have a 5 day streak going before this weeked, which is usually the toughest time. I'm still doing well, and even though I have smoked some, it has been very moderate. It beats the 10-15 I would smoke at bars while drinking. |

Yeah kicking cigarettes was extremely difficult, but alas I think the worst is behind me now.. thank God..... smoke free for 3 yrs, as of 3/16 sober since 9/25/05........coming up on 3 yrs...quit smoking before I quit drinking... life is good I will likely NEVER give up caffeine or any thing else I want, that isn't legal or harmful... Peace, love and charity..... CN

The only way to quit tobacco is cold turkey. Nic replacement products are habit forming, and you have to quit the prescription meds sooner or later. The beauty is that you only go through the worst part of the withdrawal once, unles you start smoking or chewing again. Just my humble opinion.
