Hi dogged!! Well...I'm a little over a month into my quit. And this is my third or fourth attempt to quit in the last year. I love to smoke too. If it weren't so bad for my health, I'd still be smoking despite the smell, the cost, and everything else that goes along with it. BUT...BUT...BUT it IS so bad for our health. I guess, for me, I just had to accept that I was giving up something that I loved to do. I've been telling myself that if I get to the age of 65 and I still have a desire to smoke, I will smoke at that time. I'm not ready to say that I quit forever...just that I'm quitting for today. I have a feeling that when I get to the age of 64 (23 years from now), that I won't have any desire to smoke but if I do...I've given myself permission to start back up. I've used nicodern...I've used lozenges...I tried to use CHantix and had a bad experience. In the end, cold turkey was the only method that seemed to work for me. Do whatever it takes to quit. If the nicotine replacements help, than use them!! Good luck....keep coming back!!!

But, I do know that I was in the beginning of COPD and I had to quit too. I smoked for 36 years. At my worst, I smoked over 3 packs a day. It wasn't a matter of convincing myself that I needed to quit. It was a matter of changing my behavior. Smoking is a BEHAVIOR. That's what needs to change. I used everything in the book to help me quit. Here's some tips from my quit. http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...s-my-quit.html (Tips from my Quit) The only thing that's different is that I am now Two years, six days, 13 hours, 47 minutes and 23 seconds nicotine free. That's 29462 cigarettes not smoked, saving $8,102.32. Life saved: 14 weeks, 4 days, 7 hours, 10 minutes. ![]() Believe me, if I can do it, you can! I look forward to getting to know you as you achieve your goal. Keep the quit and post before you puff! ![]() Shalom!
