Hi all, Has anyone here read the Allen Carr quit smoking book? What did you think of it? Did it help you? Any responses will be appreciated. Thank you! GH

I have read it and would definatly recommend reading it. It gives you alot to think about and takes away alot of the reasons why you think you need to smoke. After you have read it you can't really come up with a good reason for smoking. I didn't actually quit for very long (5 weeks) when I read it a few years ago but I was still drinking at the time and I started drinking ALOT more, so I started smoking again so I didn't drink as much. He does talk about drinking and smoking in the book but not about alcoholics and smoking lol Anyways since I have been sober 60 days I am planning on quitting again tommorow and I know alot of what I read in this book will help me. I was actually here to post at another forum, but when I saw this I couldn't resist. My wife is in her mid-40's and has smoked since about the age of 16. She has never had a successful stretch of time where she has quit. She did cut way down early in our relationship, but then it started building, building, building until it was 3 packs a day. She did some research and came up with this book due to all the good ratings it got (where, I don't know). She set a quit date and on the day she was to quit she read the book. You are supposed to keep on smoking as you read the book - that is one of the "rules" if I recall. After she was done I then read the book to be a team player. The book totally focuses on the positives and does not browbeat the smoker, get preachy, nor does use religion. As you read it you will be more excited to quit smoking than you've ever been - assuming it works for you! My wife put down cigarettes for the next ten days straight. Unfortunately (wouldn't you know it) her back problem became severe and she took it up again. But there is a silver lining. Before she quit she had built up quitting smoking to be this unbeatable obstacle. Now, she is actually excited to get her next chance to quit smoking. She has a totally different perspective and once we get her back situation straightened out she is going to be a non-smoker! Get this book! |

Hi folks, I would like to say that I think this man is awesome, and I would recommend any and all of his products wholeheartedly. It's basically a way of going cold turkey that makes it easy and enjoyable to quit smoking, which totally rules. I hate cigarettes, I was a slave to them for 18 years, and I hope that every smoker buys this book and quits. Sorry to sound sycophantic, but it's that good! |

Actually, if you want to quit smoking I would suggest you go and spend $25 and buy it. If you just borrow it, you haven't invested anything in it. It's like "oh well, this didn't cost me anything.. it's worthless" If you wanna quit smoking, pay the money - if it doesn't work and you don't quit, there is a full money back guarantee and they will pay you the cash straight back. When we invest in things, we give them value and worth. That's my take on it, anyway. |

I never did go buy the book. But I did get a perscription for Chantix filled yesterday. Haven't used any of it yet and I'm hearing so many negative things till I'm almost afraid to take it. The book would have been much cheaper. Did I make a mistake? GH

Well that's up to you, but there's no way I would take that stuff - chemicals that interfere with our brains scare the crap out of me! It's up to you, but I think the book is the best possible way to quit, second to none. And it contains no harmful synthetic chemicals or side effects! The chantix website says: In fact, studies show that 44% reached their quitting goal at the end of 12 weeks on CHANTIX (vs. 18% on placebo). That means that almost 20% gave up WITHOUT THE DRUGS Think about it... |
