| Chocolate making me crave a smoke?
I quit drinkin 9/16/07 and quit smoking 9/23/07. At first I was so into not drinking after the 3 days withdrawl of nicotine I didn't even think about smoking. Now I'm having such a strong craving (usually at night) that it even feels like I hadn't even quit. OMG it's awful!!! I'm coughing, feeling thirsty, and irritable. It's weird. I wonder if sugary chocolate can bring these symptoms on because when I seem to binge on chocolate it seems worse. Anyone experience that?

Sugar itself can be a trigger. Just remember that the feelings do go away and don't pick up that first one. You have over a full month. GREAT JOB! As for the cough... We spend years putting the junk in, the cough is a good thing... it is getting the junk out. It will pass with time.

Daisy, Your symptoms are normal. And they will pass. Drink LOTS of water!!! Your body is expelling the waste you've been putting into it for years, as Best said. (He's so smart! )When those cravings come, do something different. It doesn't matter what. The average craving lasts three minutes. Distract yourself, and it will pass before you know it. It's all about behavioral changes now. Your physical addiction is over with. It's the psychological addiction that you have to get past now. So, distract yourself by doing anything different. I quit after 36 years smoking over 2 packs a day. I went through a few bad months. But, they are over with now. I gained some weight. It was complicated by the fact that I had two surgeries, pnemonia, a lung infection and a bad back. But, I've lost thirty pounds now, and still working on it. I look and feel better than I have in 10 years! And I'm SMOKE FREE! Today is One year, eleven months, 23 hours, 45 minutes and 13 seconds nicotine free. That's 27999 cigarettes not smoked, saving $7,699.43. Life saved: 13 weeks, 6 days, 5 hours, 15 minutes. ![]() You can do this! You ARE doing it! You've got a month already! ![]() Keep the quit and post before you puff! Shalom!

The first (probably) 8 or 9 months not smoking, I really like the second-hand smoke... Now, when I smell people who have been smoking or I smell that second hand smoke cloud....uh, it's just gross and am ashamed I smelled that bad and did that to my body... Took me quite a while to figure out why I always had to be on the phone when I was driving...well, I always use to smoke, chain smoke, when I was driving...now I talk with my kids or my mom on the way home...but now, I know why I do it!!!! Keep up the great work....and congrats on your month!!! Blessings, Jen |
