Okay, this is day 1 for me. This time, I am using patches, and using EFT. (emotional freedom technique), and lots of prayers.

YEA, MOOSE!!!! ![]() I'm so glad you've gone back on the wagon! You CAN do this! I know how hard it is, and I'm here to tell you, it IS doable! Today, I am One year, five months, three weeks, one day, 13 hours, 10 minutes and 52 seconds nicotine free. That's 21541 cigarettes not smoked, saving $5,923.58. Life saved: 10 weeks, 4 days, 19 hours, 5 minutes. ![]() Use whatever it takes. Remember, a craving, no matter how strong it is, only lasts a few minutes, so, do something different for those few minutes. The American Lung Society will give free telephone counseling too. Take advantage of the things that the American Cancer Society will send you in the mail. Use whatever it takes. Cuz, now, at almost 18 months, I can tell you, it's very rare that I get a craving anymore. And I can laugh at them now! It's AMAZING!!! ![]() Keep the quit and post before you puff! :>) Shalom!

Moose - Keep at it. You will succeed! We have all had our ups and downs. Good luck! It has been 2yrs and 2 days for me. And I know that there were lots of times I really wanted a cig. But somewhere the willpower came thru. Surprised myself. So just keep rolling along. Each day pat yourself on the back for a new day.

Hey, Moose, Could you tell us a bit about that EFT? I've never heard of it... ![]() Oh, and I agree with Sun Daisy about rewards for ourselves. Just don't make it food... ![]() I gained over 30 pounds and am now trying to loose it. Ten down, but, oh, my it's tough... :nono: Shalom!

Well, I have dedicated myself to walking 30 minutes every day, rain or shine. And, I'm trying to drink plenty of water.... And actually, I haven't really thought too much about smoking today...which surprised me.... EFT is Emotional Freedom Technique EFT is an unconventional therapy that can change the disruption of a bodys energy system. It involves a series of Affirmation, tapping in sequence, and repetition... It's free, easy can be done in 3 minutes, and worth a try. There's a website that explains the basics, for free, but I'm not sure of the name. Perhaps if you google it... For more info...there's a website www.emofree.com It can explain it much better than I can, hopefully.

Awwww, Mooselips!!! So great to see you back again!!! Funny, I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago, wondering how you were doing!!! Miracles never cease!!! Glad you're back with us....do whatever it takes!!! Your EFT sounds a lot like what I did, which was using step 3 of AA (Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God, as we understood Him). I "chanted" repeatedly the first few weeks that "I don't want to smoke". Whenever a desire/thought/urge hit, I said, "ok God...I don't want to smoke today, please help me" and keep repeating that until the thought/urge/desire was gone. It worked!!! Sometimes I thought that the urge would be overwhelming and I'd start panicking, but then I'd think, what did I do last time that worked...oh yea...and do it again!!! Amazing. Now, I am celebrating 14 months smoke free. Since I started smoking, I have never been smoke-free this long!!! I am so amazed and grateful!!! Exercise for me was kinda weird. That was my "excuse" to marathon smoke. So then I became compulsively obsessed with exercising without smoking and I was amazed...that first month, I dropped 6 pounds!!! Held it off for a few months...then got lazy and a bit more comfortable in my quit. Now, 30ish pounds heavier...I would like to drop 25ish pounds and get back to my "comfy" weight. If you make it simple in your mind...it will be simple. If you make it difficult and painful...it will be difficult and painful. Sounds like you have the right mindset; we're pulling for you and keep in touch and let us know how you are doing!!! Remember, if you get in a tough moment....let us know. I've found that it always helps to tell on my thoughts!!! Blessings and prayers, Jen |

Thanks for all the hints, I need all the help I can get! I am steering away (like a 10 mile radius) from all smokers for now, until I am comfortable. That's how I started last time, I was in Florida, was quit 6 weeks, a friend of mine brought down 2 bottles of wine and a pack of cigarettes...so much for determination. So, I'm aware of 3 triggers: 1. Alcohol 2. A cigarette in my sights. 3. Sherry! Hugs to all, BTW, the new sugarless gum by Trient is good...it's Pina Colada flavored...yum...

I'm still doing great smoke free. An occasional craving, but only lasts for a few minutes. I was quit for 8 months previously, so I KNOW I can do this. Right now, I can breathe better, I'm not coughing at night when I sleep, and I'm not constantly clearing my throat. I am worried about the weight gain, since I'm eating anything that doesn't move. I like the Trident Pina Colada sugarless gum, I have to try the twister!

Are you walking that 30 minutes a day? Is it a brisk walk, or a casual stroll? Easy to talk, I know. I gained weight, and am trying to loose it now. Wish I had paid a bit more attention to what I was eating then, especially since I went through two surgeries, pnemonia, and a lung infection during my first year when I gained all the weight! ![]() Anyway, remember, you'd have to gain more than 75 pounds to even begin to be in the same dangerous category as with smoking! ![]() I don't have to worry about that, anyway! LOL! Keep up the good work, and remember to post before you puff!!! ![]() Shalom!

Yippee, I have 7 days today! Teach, I've been jogging on my indoor jogger, for 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there. I have a dreadful time with motivation to exercise. Good intentions, though. I was 20 pounds overweight when I started and sure don't want to gain anymore! Have a great day, everyone,

Great going Moose!!! A whole week smoke free!!! That's awesome!!! The food thing is hard. The first month I lost 6 months, then I gained that 6 plus 20 more over the next few months, mostly, because I became complacent and ate what I wanted because I "deserved" it... Substituting one thing for another...as long as you are conscious of it...be aware, you're ahead of the game!!! Blessings and keep up the great work!!! Jen |

I am watching what I eat, so hopefully, I won't put on any more weight. The last time I quit for 8 months, I gained 20 pounds. EEK! So I still have those extra 20 pounds I can't seem to shred. It's a difficult choice whether to die of lung cancer, or obesity.... I'll choose skinny chick.

LOL! Yea, I noticed that.... But, of course, when I was a smoker, I noticed the smokers too! ![]() Sorry you lost at the casino, but, you didn't smoke, so, that's a winner in *my* eyes! ![]() And, I'm assuming, you had some fun for $25 bucks....not a bad deal! (Moose, it's 18 months for me today! )Keep the quit and post before you puff! Shalom!

Mooselips keep up the good work. It is funny that once you quit the smell of smoke on things is the worst. I own a used paperback book store where you bring books in to trade. Now when I open a bag of books that the customer bring in for trade i can tell the smokers. Boy that smell clings to the books!!! Mentioned it to husband and he was really surprised. He still smokes but hasnt quit yet . The spirit is stong but the actual doing is weak. I dont nag him. I hope someday he will quit. You just keep up the good work and we are all here for you.

Hey Moose... you are brave hitting a casino in the first week! Good for you not lighting up, it's funny how, people, places, things really do trigger. Like the smell of coffee in the early morning... I have stopped having a cup o' joe in the morning and wait until noon time to treat myself to a DD or Starbucks. I am starving ALL the time. Food is really starting to taste better. I also read that our bodies are doing so much healing (working overtime) that we need to eat more for the energy and the nutrition, so eat plenty, just not a box of dougnuts like I did the other day ; ) ... I am feeling thicker these days, oh well, somethings gotta give! Keep up the good work...
