| So they say that...
...once you hit 72 hours, the "physical" addiction is done. I'm not really sure what that means, given that it's the brain we're really concerned with here. So, what's left is just a "psychological" addiction? Is anyone aware that the brain has the ability to make the body feel things? You know that hungers pangs aren't really from your stomach, don't you? That's your brain getting your attention about food via an appropriate mechanism. And all these aches I have at the moment may not be "physical addiction," but they are certainly physical. They are my brain's way of telling me that it's pissed at me and wants some nicotine. It thinks if it can make me suffer a bit, it will win. But I'm wise to my brain this time. I'm running the show now. |

Oh definately. I used the patch for 3 days, then I got the flu the 2nd day in to quitting. I took off the patch because of the nausea. The physical addiction, the craving of nicotine sort of went away, but the desire to smoke out of habit remains. I am determined not to light up. Speaking of the brain and quitting, here's what I have been through: Crying. Lots of crying. Nightmares All due to the huge change in my life with not smoking. Thankfully I have made it 10 days, 7 hours, 27 minutes and 46 seconds smoke free. 309 cigarettes not smoked.
