Look at this recovery, folks! I went ahead and started a new thread since the old one was closed...Hope that is OK. I had a horrible wknd and so glad it is over! ;-( I ended up smoking 2-cigs Saturday night even though both tasted like crap! {from the Chantix, I assume?} Got back on track Sunday but last night was really craving so I went to bed and tossed and turned all night. Any sleep I did have was filled with really, really strange and vivid dreams that left me feeling groggy and "displaced" this morning when I woke. And my whole body aches...especially my legs {RLS} which I can't decide is the WDs or from exercising. Hopefully this will all pass soon but I plan to stay busy reguardless and not smoke!! One good thing...We have a whole "new" hour before it gets dark and time to walk after dinner! Hubby and I {and the dog} are looking forward to that! TC, Jane

| ![]() Jane, you were too quick for me! I was creating IV as you were posting! LOL! Anyway, as you see, I just merged you into the new one. Good to see you got right back on the horse after that fall! Keep up the good work! I've never experienced any aches due to quitting, but, I used the patch, so had doses of nicotine from which I weaned down. So, I suppose it could be. Anyone else ever experience that??? Walking regularly helped me during my quit. Remember to keep the quit and post before you puff! ![]() Shalom!

Hey, everyone; I've had a lot of stress lately. And oh, boy, have I REALLY wanted to cave and bum a butt; or buy a pack. Even thought I could buy a pack, smoke it overnight, and no one would know. It would just be my little secret. ![]() I never stopped to think, until just this minute, that smoking a pack overnight, after not smoking for 15 months, would KILL me! Not to mention my own newly developed asthma! OY! Anyway, I just wanted to tell on myself. I hope it will lessen the cravings that are very tough right now. I've had a few panic attacks, and believe me, I really wanted a few smokes to calm down. No need to tell me that nicotine is a stimulant. I know. ![]() Anyway, I'm still smoke free, now for One year, three months, one week, four days, 14 hours, 1 minute and 38 seconds. That makes 18743 cigarettes not smoked, saving $5,154.42. Life saved: 9 weeks, 2 days, 1 hour, 55 minutes. Keep the quit and post before you puff! ![]() Shalom!

Thanks historyteach! Glad you didn't buy that pack of cigs!! Mine were gone yesterday and I'm not buying anymore starting today! I CAN do this! I know I CAN and I just need to keep shaking off the cravings till they pass and I'll be fine! We're having an amazing sunny 70-degrees today before the rain and cold weather return tomorrow so I plan to treat myself to lunch with my Mama and a walk down by the duck pond! {Then its back to cleaning house Wed.} Keep the quit! Had a long day today, but I got tired of the nicotine speeding up my heart so I stepped down to the 7 mg patch after 2 weeks on Step 2 at about three in the afternoon. I will be putting on a Step 3 again tomorrow but will carry the stronger one in case I feel myself slipping. I have had 56 smoke free days and feeling great. I called my counselor at the smoke-free helpline today to get support since I cut back on the patch after only 2 weeks on Step 2. She said I sound great as well, and her support was, as always, wonderful. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I am going to be working for 8 hours for the first time since I have been in recovery. That is a big day for me.

Yea, WW, it sure IS amazing! :wow: And Cynay, it IS life afterall, isn't it... and we do it one day at a time. One minute at a time if that's what it takes! Good luck, tomorrow, Alera! Jane, you CAN do this; yes, you CAN! Just keep doing the next right thing time after time -- even when no one is looking! ![]() Today, I'm One year, three months, one week, six days, 12 hours, 34 minutes and 4 seconds nicotine free. Thank you History for thinking of me!! YAY!! TWO whole days and no cigs!! Seriously!! I cannot believe I am actually...finally doing this!!! Just the sheer amazement that I could actually do this might be just the kick in the butt I needed! :-) Still not sleeping well and the dreams are totally insane, but I can handle it if it means not smoking! Hubby and I walked again tonight and ya' know, that hill below my house DID seem alittle easier to get up!! ;-) Cynay...actually all of my friends and family are non-smokers except for maybe 1 or 2 that still light up...so I guess I have been the "odd ball" all along! {LOL} I am really looking forward to not having to run outside for a smoke everytime we get together now though!! Hang in there!! Wabbit...Yeah, and just think of all the wonderful STUFF you can buy or do with that money saved!! WooHOO!! Hope you feel better real soon! Oh and caught this little tidbit of news tonight... http://www.smdailyjournal.com/articl...w.php?id=66988 Even though I have some problems with all the power we are willingly giving over to the govt., looks like the crackdowns are going to get worse so we all probably quit just in the nick of time! I know I am am definately NOT going to miss getting looked at funny when I would smoke in public! ;-) {{HUGS}} Jane

Made it through my 1st full day as a non smoker. I took Chantix for a week, and during that week read the book The Easy Way to Quit Smoking, by Alan Carr. I got both ideas from this forum. I thought about cigarettes a few times during the day, but never seriously considered actually doing it. All in all a good day. I am Free! ![]() One day, 2 hours, 17 minutes and 9 seconds. 27 cigarettes not smoked, saving $5.13. Life saved: 2 hours, 15 minutes. |

Woooo hooo and congrads Husch! I would like to say its easy... but that would be lying.... the good news is it can be done. Yea, thought about that last night. Life on Lifes terms. I dont have to always like it, I just have to always live it and I always have the choice to change it if it is not working for me.... so that is what I will work on. Today will be a better day though.... everyday things get better and make more sense to me regarding what has been my issue and driving me nuts... just one day at a time. We can all do this together !!! Four months, one week, two days, 6 hours, 58 minutes and 53 seconds. 2585 cigarettes not smoked, saving $646.45. Life saved: 1 week, 1 day, 23 hours, 25 minutes.

After struggling all night with nausea and general not feeling so hot from the flu, I haven't smoked. Praise God for that too because it's the longest I have ever gone. I am working on day 6 I don't have to smoke.

I have been craving a cig pretty bad since I woke up this morning and seeing people enjoying their cigs while out running errands didn't help! I even zeroed right in on every Marlboro cig sign I saw!! ARGGG!! This is NUTS!! I just keep taking a few minutes and focusing on something else until it passes, but man, my brain is working overtime today! ;-) Honestly, I think I will go take a short nap for awhile since I barely got much sleep last night! Today is Day-3 and still hanging in there! Keep up the great work everyone! Jane

Congrats to everyone not smoking today! That is awesome! Today is day 18 for me.....I have a new addiction...running! I can't believe I can actually run 1/4 mile already at a time....I walk in between. I was never able to run even 3 houses down....I ran out of breath. It's an incredible feeling. I will never turn back and smoke again. I will do anything I have to not to! We CAN do this!

I have to check in more than once a day. It's like a security blanket coming here. In 2 hours I will be 6 days out. I like Salsa's post, addicted to running! It is amazing how better you feel when you don't smoke. And the further out you are from your quit, the less and less you want to smoke. I am not smoking this evening.

59 days without a smoke, and holding steady on the 7 mg patch. No work tomorrow as I will go over the allocated hours. I have some other pet projects though so I should hopefully be busy.

Morning all! I swear I was smoking in my dreams last night, woke up this morning and looked in my "usual place" for my pack of cigs but of course, they weren't there! Shows you how strong this addiction is! I didn't even have those dreams during recovery from the vicoden!!! I'm starting on my 4th day "smober" today and lots to keep busy with tidying up since my daughter is coming in Sunday night for Spring Break!! {YaY!} Hubby and I are excited to show her our new "smokeless versions" of ourselves!! {LOL!} Salsa...Jogging is one of my inspirations too! I know that once I see how much easier it is as a non-smoker that that very well could become my new addiction!! ;-) Keep hanging in there and TGIF!! Jane
