3 cigarettes today

Only 3 cigarettes so far today. Normally I would probably be opening my 2nd pack about now. I decided to quit smoking to make up for another payment for a another new quad I picked up last Friday.

Congratulations on your decision, Time. I've been quit for a bit over 11 months now...and am so thankful and grateful to have a daily reprieve of this addiction. Feel free to post over in the daily thread. That was a life saver for me when I was starting out....as was a "journal" I kept up with for the first few months. Sure did help to come here and get the support...

Blessings and great job,
Jen

Way to go, T2S! I started chewing tobacco and drinking at age 14, and didn't give up both addictions until 27 years later. I'm still amazed at how much money I've saved by giving up those diseases. That quad is a wonderful gift to yourself, I chose to purchase more telescopes as an incentive. Best of luck to you in quitting!

Thanks for the support. Day 2 and not one cig so far. This is what I would like to reward myself with next. http://www.gtthunder.com/450R.htm $740 I've been wanting this set-up for a while now. Maybe next month. I also would like a new pipe for my quad. $500. I dont think I've ever bought a pipe before that wasnt made of glass. My Dad still gives me a hard time saying quading is an expensive hobby. I say its cheaper than Crack. Besides, if I can quit smoking, I will be in better shape and will need to do more mods on my quad so it can keep up with me as I get healthier and ride harder. Don't you just love my logic?

Thanks Astro. I am still in my first 72 hours. Smoked 3 cigs Monday morning. Havent had one since. Probably been around 48 hours so far. The only way to not smoke is to not pick up that first cigarette. LOL. I'm gonna do this.

I've heard the stretch between days 3 & 5 are the hardest, and that cravings usually pass within 5 minutes. All I know for sure is that I'm living proof that it's possible to quit, and there are many more who've been successful.

Check out the "Daily Check-In" thread going in the nicotine forum, and keep a tally on how much you're saving. Buying yourself a toy can be a great incentive.

I'm thinking about a street bike for my next reward:-)

Hey, Mike, this is AWESOME!!!
I'm so glad you're quitting, regardless of the reason. And you're right; don't pick up that first one, and you're a quitter just like the rest of us.

Today, I am One year, three months, six days, 12 hours, 50 minutes and 37 seconds nicotine free. That's 18541 cigarettes not smoked, saving $5,098.88. Life saved: 9 weeks, 1 day, 9 hours, 5 minutes.

Keep the quit and post before you puff!

Shalom!

Astro...Thanks for posting the "WhyQuit" site link! Lots of good stuff to read there!!
Also, thanks for reminding me that one of the things I would enjoy buying with my "splurge money" is a new telescope!! After that, I'm working towards a cruise for the whole family!

Love the quad idea too, Time, although I better not let hubby see that!! He is already counting down the days till motorcycle weather!! ;-)

WhyQuit was one of my inspirations to quit chewing tobacco. A huge help.

Hey, you're from Ohio! For the second year in a row my kids and I will be traveling to Ohio to meet up with some fellow amateur astronomers for a stargazing party at a residence in Lodi. Having great friends like that is just one more awesome benefit of sobriety.

Day 5 sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last night I had to give an estimate. Printer went down. OK, so I go buy another. Print a mapquest, drive to the house, go inside, look the job over and walk back to my truck to print an estimate for the customer. PRINTER DOESNT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Had to e-mail it to them. Left. Went to an NA meeting, got home, sat in my driveway for 20 minutes messing with my new printer. Smoked 2 cigarettes and never did get it to work. So, I guess its back to Office Depot this morning.

A small set back, Mike.
Don't let it take you over again.
Remember the new quad you want....

I wish I knew where the 5K I've saved went! LOL! But, a Mediterranean cruise would be more my style. :e58:

Shalom!
