From whyquit.org:

Chest Tightness
Chest tightness is normal, temporary and should not last for more than a few days. Aside from arising from the tension and stress associated with early withdrawal, it can be a component of normal postpartum nicotine blues or be associated with the early cleansing, coughing and lung healing. Any tension or depression induced tightness or muscle stiffness may benefit from relaxation exercises, a warm shower, slow deliberate breathing or moderate exercise. Fluid or ice water may help with minor discomfort associated with tar and mucus removal or irritation due to coughing. Keep in mind that your lungs need moisture to help with healing and flushing.

As a general rule of thumb, normal daily fluid intake should equal a minimum of one-half your body weight in ounces daily. A cool glass of water may not only taste refreshing it may stimulate a small earned release of dopamine -- that ahhhh sensation. Add in a few deep deep ahhhh breaths and you may just begin to sense the beauty of the gradually emerging "you" as neurochemical sensitivity and control again is regulated by life not nicotine. If we have any concerns about chest tightness, it never hurts to pick up the phone and give our doctor a call.

Have a great meeting Brians.

Cynay, just FYI, my mom, my sis and I all have pnemonia. If your chest tightness doesn't go away within a few days, esp if you are drinking lots of fluids, (and you've been quit over a month now), please do go to the docs.

I'm am really REALLY glad I'm not smoking anymore right now! With all the coughing I'm doing, (it gives me a headache!), I think I'd be in the hospital if I were still smoking! I KNOW I'd be gagging!

Today, I am One year, two weeks, 12 hours, 42 minutes and 33 seconds smoke free. That's 15181 cigarettes not smoked, saving $4,174.82. Life saved: 7 weeks, 3 days, 17 hours, 5 minutes. :>)

Keep the quit and post before you puff!

Shalom!

Just back from meeting. I had another member come in to be the chair person. How many times must they hear me? Meeting went well. Helps me and I hope it may help some one else. They do not smoke in County jail.
What a way to quit. Have a good smokeless night. Brian

Yea, you're right. Not the way to quit!
My son was never a big smoker. Smoked mainly when he was quitting heroin. But, in prison, where he's at, there's no smoking.
He was in minimum and tried to smuggle in smokes with the help of his 40 something year old "GF." (He's 26 and in prison when they started "dating." : ) The plan was to sell them, as they go for $2 a piece in prison. Anyway, he got caught and got sent to medium security; lost his parole and all visitation.
There's more than one way to loose with cigarettes, I guess. And we all lost this time, not just him. :nono:

Keep the quit and post before you puff!

Shalom!

Good Morning all,

Another day free of cigs. That was a high price for a $2 sale or smoke. I had one inmate last night the only way he could get clean was to be in jail.
He plans to return to AA/NA. Hope so. God works the way God has to for our good.

Two weeks, two days, 8 hours, 53 minutes and 36 seconds. 654 cigarettes not smoked, saving $161.08. Life saved: 2 days, 6 hours, 30 minutes.

Wow..feels like it's been a really long time since I've had a chance to visit. I've been sick the past 8 days. Lost my voice for 5 days...just getting it back today. My kids can't laugh at me anymore for yelling and sounding like a little pip-squeak!!! Hubby can't make fun of me anymore either - HA!

Been eating the cough drops like crazy...my throat's hurt so much..no strep...thank God...but still very dry and scratchy. Cough to the point of passing out and/or bright red face. Fun - not!!!

Best get back to sewing, making lunches for school tomorrow, get showered, get the house tidied, and all that other happy hoop-la!

Great going BRIANS!!! Glad to hear you're still nicotine free!!!! Awesome. Been thinking about you guys...just not much time right now to check in.

Keep up the great work everybody!!!

Blessings and be safe,
Jen

My name is Jen, and I am a nicotine addict.
I have stopped nicotine for 8 months, 24 days, 22 hours, 49 minutes and 5 seconds (268 days).

I've not smoked 8069 death sticks, and saved $1,444.03.
I've saved 28 days and 22 minutes of my life.

Oh, Jen;
That doesn't sound good at all!
Did you go to the docs? Sounds like strep, possibly...

Brians, I LOVE White Christmas with Bing Crosby! And my fav is It's a Wonderful Life! LOL!
Thanks for the kind wishes for Chanukkah! It's a fun holiday, but, a minor one in the Jewish faith. It's gotten beefed up in the States due to competition with Christmas, lol!
But,the candle lighting is a beautiful home service.
And the latkes are great! LOL!

Today, I am One year, two weeks, two days, 23 minutes and 11 seconds smoke free. That's 15240 cigarettes not smoked, saving $4,191.18. Life saved: 7 weeks, 3 days, 22 hours, 0 minutes.

Keep the quit and post before you puff! :>)

Shalom!

Hang in there, Cynay. We all know it will be worth it. When I walked out of tonights meeting, it was via smoke screen and boy I wanted one. I remembered smelling a smoker two seats away and just did not want to a stinking smoker. Plus I like breathing and walking again. More Time of smoking will do this to you. POST BEFORE YOU PUFF. You know who says that. How many cigs have you not smoked since quitting?
