Aaaauuuugh

Today is THE day...no more smoking.
I manged this process once before...first eliminated work (where I spend most of my day) and gave myself the gift of "2" allowed at home...to be smoked at my descretion.
I'm an odd one when it comes to that. If I know I get a reward for being a good girl, the anxiety subsides.
But I'd like to try having none later tonight...we'll see how that goes.
I know that cold turkey is the prferred method for success, but this has worked for me in the past.
(Geez...why didn't I just stay there...not smoking)
Here we go gang...( I feel like I have poison ivy in my intenstines )

What are some other "rewards"? For me, chocolate! But probably something more healthy might be a soothing cup of mint tea with a bit of sugar?

Maybe a movie out - on a weeknight!

A little shopping trip to Target?

A spa day?

A haircut?

A manicure?

A.... MASSAGE?!!!

Give yourself a gift each day... and save the biggest ones for days 5 and 6, because by then, the PHYSICAL withdrawal should abate.

Walking outside reminds me why I want and need the lungs clear and functioning.

Congrats on the decision... good luck with the process!

Well...I smoked one of the two cigs at home.
I'm disappointed in myself.
I didn't even get the relief I was hoping for.
Tomorrow...back at it until I make it.
I hate that I've allowed myself to be dependant on a chemical.
And the headache! Sheeeesh.

I don't plan on giving up.
Oddly, today seems easier. Don't have quite the anxiety I had yesterday. I haven't chomped on my nicorette gum once yet.
I wonder if that stuff actually triggers my system more than helping?
Great job EVERYONE! BOy...this is hard work!

Keep going cece....We CAN do this!!

Have you checked out a link called www.whyquit.com?
They have a long list of nicotine cessation tips that I thought were very interesting. I printed them out and highlighted alot of them.
Good stuff!

Keep going...one day, hour, or even second at a time!
We can do it!!!!
Hugs

Ok Cece.. wanna know how *I* did it 20 years ago?

I got angry. Mad. Fuming!

Mr. Big tossed my last pack with my last cigarette out the window. I couldn't believe what an a$$ he was! HE decided that was when I was going to quit?!! HIM!! Who hadn't yet quit himself!!!!??!!! HOW DARE HE~!!!!!!

I yelled like that for the 50 miles it took to get home, got out of my 1983 Honda Civic (first brand new car I had ever owned) and KICKED the passenger side door.... denting it.

I didn't talk to Mr. Big for OVER A WEEK (and that's not all for over a week, either... ha!). I wouldn't have smoked a cigarette if you had put it between my lips and lit it!! ... just out of spite. There was NO WAY I was going to prove him "right" about my being too weak to quit.

Sooo.... I told you that to say this... What motivates you in real life? What times have you been stubborn? Competition? One-upmanship?

Even the negative traits can be useful for me. I may not like that I am a perfectionist or competitive... but I do believe that was the bell that was 'rung' back then.

I wish you the best. (((hugs)))

Hmmmm...what motivates me in real life? Someone saying I can't.
Or shouldn't, or won't.
Or whether I did it right or wrong. Hell, I guess commentary of any kind right now is motivating.
Oh BigSis...I have no doubt what you say is the absolute truth...
Oh...and my friend quit last week and is doing quite well...there's not a snowballs chance in hell that I won't do just as well...heehee
