| told husband I need help..got totally OOC last night
Hi! Well, we went out to dinner last night and I proceeded to over do it yet again. I didn't go to bed until 6:30 am and I managed to ask people that we didn't know to come to our house to have drinks. One of htem actually came over and when I got up this afternoon I realized how dangerous that was. Luckily he turned out to be nice but how could I have known that this guy wasn't going to kill us or rip us off. Even worse, my husband got stuck driving this person home today (2 hours away) and I ruined our one night out in a long time. I have the shakes today and I just want to crawl back into bed. I told my husband that I want to get help--tomorrow. I don't know if I will be able to get in with a therapist though...

Scampered ! Welcome to SR , I have read your previous post, and can see you are having a hard time of it , I am sorry I can only share what worked for me , I rang AA, on just such a day. I was amazed that the person who answered the phone did not sound shocked at all, but knew exactly how I was feeling. I arranged to go to myfirst meeting, andhere I am 27 months sober. it has not been easy by any means, but I have had wonderful support from my friends in AA, and have done everthing they suggested . Why not give it a try? Nothing to lose HUGX Lee

Gosh! you are so lucky! I suggest you try AA while waiting for an appointment. You way is not working... open your mind to another. Here is info... http://www.bma-wellness.com/papers/F...A_Meeting.html

I agree. I've been where you are - go get help and get into a detox place if you can. Period. It will only get worse, if you're as bad off as it appears. It will make you stronger; not appear weak. Trust me. Go!!

Please, please, please call someone!!!!! As I sat down to write a note I got a call from the woman I spoke to at my first AA meeting last week. I gave her my phone number and took hers. She's called me twice to check on me and this time she emphasised how important it is to call someone, anyone and ask for help. She said that the people who call make it and those who try and "go it alone" usually don't. I had to pass this on since it was so timely that I was reminded that reaching out is such a critical part of recovery. Call the AA hotline, check the website for local meeting times, or just go. You don't need an appointment to go to a meeting. If nothing else it at least get's you started on the path to recovery while you check out all your options and wait for your doctor appointment. Please do it for yourself as soon as possible. There is no harm to have gone to a meeting and you may actually feel really good afterwards. |
