Hey all, new to the forum. A little about me I guess...26 year old male going on 27 next month, and much like everyone here I'm an alcoholic. Started about two years ago. 2 years ago I lost my first job and the job market was horrible and couldn't get a new one. I turned to alcohol, even though I knew I shouldn't. I lost my girlfriend, my dog, and started drinkin about a 12 pack a day after that for a few months. I cut back but was still drinkin a 12 pack a couple times a week. I know I have a fatty liver because of it, but i have recently been drinking 12 pack a day again. I have sworn that as I write this I will stop drinking, but wanted to find a community for support and those in a similar situation. I know that if I don't stop drinking one of these days I'll be a statsitic and not living life to the fullest. Thank you for letting me get that off my chest, and hope you all are having a great weekend. |

Hi Timi--Welcome to SR. My name is Laura and I am an alcoholic/pothead. I have found SR to be a wonderful place with very supportive people who make a great addition to my f2f AA meetings and working the program with my sponsor. Make yourself at home. Glad you are here. Hugs--

I can totally relate to this, was laid off in 2001 (tech) and just found another full time job a few weeks ago. Lost everything (although admittedly, I didn't have all that much to lose LOL), and drinking because I was depressed and depressed because I was drinking. I know you already know where this story goes ... - Greg

Hello, Timi! I think you'll like it here...lots of warm, wonderful people! As Carol said, you are wise to seek sobriety at your age...also so early in the disease. I've been drinking for over twenty years;(I started very young ...really) trust me...it only gets worse! I started with a six pack a day, then a twelve pack...then a case. Next thing I knew I was drinking whiskey...eventually I worked my way up to about a half gallon a day. Talk about "not living life to the fullest". I had/have no life. Alcohol takes eveything it can from you.How are you today? Try to make today the first day of your new life. I'll be thinking about you. ~Quote- 2tough2die: and drinking because I was depressed and depressed because I was drinking. Perfectly said!!!!

Welcome Timi, Stick around and read alot. There are online meetings. The schedule is on the newcomers board. I have learned so much here. I have found that face to face meetings are good too. You should check one out. Thanks and look forward to hearing more about you. We are all here to help each other. Jeff
