HELP -- Interviewing new roommates I've been sober a little over 7 months. My roommate (and close friend) is moving out at the end of the month. I have one remaining roommate who knows I'm in recovery and is also a good friend. I'm not sure how to handle the interview process. Should I tell them about my alcoholism before they move in? Should I tell them during the interview? I'm not entirely comfortable telling every person who walks in the door, but maybe it's also a courtesy to let them know before they sign the lease... Suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks, Liz

Does the other room mate drink? If the house is a dry house, that is all that needs be said. House rules are.... Do you still want to move in? Set some goals and guidelines. Let them be your house rules.

It's not a dry house. She drinks on occasion. The relief is that the roommate moving out was a pretty big partier and now she'll be gone. We're going to ask questions about people's tendencies, I guess that should be enough.

If someone is moving into your house. Oh yeah, deffinately have no problems saying this is a dry house. I would set boundaries off the get-go. If they can't deal with the no drinking rule, then I wouldn't let them move in.

I wouldn't bring it up at first meeting, but I would let the new roomie know before they commit. BubbaBob
