Haven't been well.

Since my last post I've had a few relapses. I have been feeling too ashamed to post, but after last night I need to be accountable.

I was doing so well for 6 months, up until my birthday.

I am so ashamed of myself, and my anxiety is palpable today.

All that matters right now is that you are back. Meeting perhaps?

Ekohe I hope you can get back on track. I hope you don't fall into the "Well I already blew it....may as well drink" frame of mine. I did that. I am back in sober land now thank GOD! I think we just have to concentrate fully on how much better we feel sober. My weak time is at night. I either hang out on this site with you guys...or find something good on TV or read to occupy my mind. I surely NEVER want to go back to what had escalated into full force drinking...I was on a mission! Hang in there.

I've been reading a lot of relapse posts... It happens. You can't change it, and agonizing about it will only increase your anxiety. Posting on here is great, and awesome that you want to be accountable! Do you attend AA meetings? Getting a sponsor is a good start to becoming more responsible. You have today - take it one day at a time. Make a commitment to not drink today, and just focus on achieving that. You can do it! Use this relapse as motivation to take some action toward sobriety

Thank you all for the replies, I haven't been going to meetings as those kinds of settings spark panic attacks for me, but I have called my therapist and he will be seeing me this week. He helped me get to 6 months, and I want to get back to that.

Glad you're back. My birthday is tomorrow and I understand what a huge trigger that can be. Every day is a second chance, and I'm glad you posted. It makes me feel not alone as how tempted I am to drink right now.

I'm just glad I decided to post, the last few slips before last night I was ashamed to. But I do want my sobriety, the time I went 6 months before February were so great.

Check out www.intherooms.com. Has online meetings you can get a feel for before going to face to face. Anyone can add me as a friend there too. Same username.

Welcome back, Ekohe; it's good to see you.

Good to hear that you will be seeing your old therapist who was helpful to you in the past.

Please don't ever be ashamed here. You are among understanding friends.

Glad you're back, Ekohe. I got off track myself in January after 200+ sober days. Getting and staying sober can be a humbling process, but we have it within us to do this right. To put the shame and anxiety with the alcohol in the rear view mirror and get on to the good stuff.

Hi Ekohe - never be hesitant to let us know what's going on with you. Most of us have been through the same thing. I'm so happy you're back and giving it another go. You'll be more determined this time. We know you can do it.
