Aw that's sad. I just read that Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has died at the age of 60. I would imagine that it’s very difficult for a parent to outlive her child.

I'm lighting a candle for anyone who is struggling, suffering or in pain tonight.

Oh my mother can be funny. Today she was talking about my sister in law and she remarked "I don't like her. She annoys me". Tell us something we don't know!!

I have decided to return to my place tomorrow and not Thursday as planned. She asked me why I am going so soon and said "will this be your first New Year in a while without your mom and dad?" I told her "I want to see my friends and go for coffees and walks on the beach. It is my holiday too". I am not sure why she is trying to make me feel guilty. She did end the converstion with something like "Congratulations on your job". I feel guilty as it is. My dad looks tired these days.

I CANNOT wait to get back to civilisation. One of my friends suggested we take a day trip on Friday. I wasn't sure about him at first as he is studying for a PhD and you know what some of these PhD types can be like - they are like doctors in that they think they know everything. But he is actually quite nice and funny. Anyway we will see. It's nice to have the option!

I never made it to the PhD stage either. However I do find that the older I get the more my patience is running out. Sometimes at work I just wanna turn around and say "do you ever stop talking?"

I have also found that the doctors who aren't fully qualified and the ones who are the most "uppity". I heard a story lately about a staff member who was walking down to the office with an arm load of heavy files. She passed a group of medical students. Each of them ignored her and passed by. The only person who stood back to hold the door for her was the janitor.

Even with the junior doctors -when I am doing the typing each of them has a phrase that they stick into every letter. One of them always says "if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact myself or a member of Mr. Smith's team".

Another one, even if the patient came in with a broken nose always says "we have reassured the patient and advised him to keep the ears waterproof".

I suppose even I thought I knew everything - until I found out I didn't

Well, Tetra, I guess it never hurts to keep your ears waterproof!

I went to the Men's AA meeting tonight. It is at an awkward time and is usually poorly attended, but I volunteered to be secretary for the first six months of 2017. SOMEONE has to be there for the newcomer!

Keep working at it, everyone!

Good morning weekenders)

I survived two boxing workouts yesterday - though the second one was tough to endure.

Today we have a NY part at work. No alcohol, no sugar, no junk food for me. Yes, that is how I like it now. My new definition of freedom.

It's been ages since I used makeup, and, let alone being out of skill at it, I wonder if I have any which didn't hit its expiration date.

Have a great day, everyone.

Hi SW!!

Me too Dee. LOL

This has been some year. Personally it has been one of my best in many ways. For that I am grateful. But now its time to do new things and stray a bit from my comfy center. I call it my bubble. It has super thick walls that need some better decor.

I am about to leave for New Year party at work.

I am actually looking forward to it - no worries about drinking, just fun and enjoy the event.

See you all)

Wait. Ken's doing the thread tomorrow?

Deja vu?

Dee, you have the Watership Down quote in your signature. What a lovely book - he died, right?

Tharn = That crazy "frozen" response the rabbits get/got. I've used that term so many times in life regarding fear and being frozen in place - and sometimes people get it but mostly not.

RIP Mr. Adams.
