Withdrawel

I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me.
I have drank heavy, mainly on weekends for about 25 years. Never every day but never stopped for more than three or four days.
I drank alot five days ago and decided to quit.
My body on day five feels like I have arthritis all over.
Can't get comfortable to sleep.
Can't concentrate on any complex work subjects.
Just wish I could take something to knock me out.
I am asking because I don't have a fever and don't have the flue.
I have never craved alcohol.
Is this symptomatic of withdawel. Confused.

Hi there wwd2, and welcome!
Yep, symptoms of withdrawal can be real uncomfortable.
Here's a link to a good article and a list of symptoms, and suggestions to deal with them.
Glad you're here.

Hey There WWD2,
Welcome to SoberRecovery. My name’s Sandy. I was a recreational alcoholic from age 16 to 25. I became a highly functioning alcoholic from ages 25 to 35. I then regressed to a low functioning alcoholic state from age 35 to 40, followed by a non-functioning alcoholic state from age 40 to 43. I have since been sober for around 45 days now. I have a wonderful husband and 2 wonderful sons, 18 and 21 who are drug-free and away at college.
It’s very nice to meet you.

Here are some online sources that you can check out along with Dan's site. All have lots of information regarding drugs.

Prayers, Sandy

Thanks very much for your responses. I will use the links. I am turning 40 this year and it just hit me last weeekend that I have drank progressively heavier on nearly every weekend and at least 1-2 times a week since I was 14. You all seem so nice.
