That is the stage I am at, one may as well be a thousand as once I pick up one, I can't stop without professional help.

It is generally accepted we need a plan, a road map that will keep us sober along out journey.

Have a look at these links for information on making plans, hope it helps and all the best, stay close Andrew

Kev,

Hi and welcome.

What you feel is your brain saying where's my booze.

It is the opposite of ok to drink. Each second you resist you get a bit stronger.

Embrace sobriety. Be protective of your clean days.

It gets better every day. Don't relapse.

Proudly sober.

That would be a very strong indicator that one is alcoholic.

questions
is liquor no longer a luxury ?
and now become a necessity ?

Hi Kev,

Today is Day 10 for me after many day ones. Each time I thought I could try to moderate my drinking I ended up back to drinking daily. I know for me that one is the gateway back to too many.

This is a great forum with lots of support, congratulations on a week sober, that is a huge milestone!

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

That's always been my problem, I'm unable to control it once I start. I'm not a daily drinker either but once I start I drink everything in the house (or pass out first).
So for us just one drinking episode can be deadly, or disastrous, better off not to drink at all..

Congrats on your sober week, Awesome.

Welcome to SR, kev!

I'm another one that didn't drink daily or even every weekend, but once I started, I was like Jessie; it was either drink everything available or pass out--whichever came first. I had no control over it most times.

If you stick around here you can develop some strategies to help you when that voice starts up again. It will eventually get weaker if you can put some work into finding ways to deal with it.
