I'm Back

Hi everyone, so after another year of heavy drinking I am back. My drinking this past year has been more controlled than the past 10 years but I still drink very heavily. My body feels worn out and sick.
I want to stop again and I guess that is why I am here. I need to break the control it still has over my life. Hopefully being part of this community again will help me.

Welcome back, Maverick!

We can offer lots of support. Do you have a plan in mind to help you stop drinking and recover?

I need to attend some AA meetings as I have never been. That along with putting more time into health and fitness.

Welcome back

I don't think you can over estimate the power of support added to a good solid recovery plan

Welcome back, maverickspoint.

What a freeing experience it is when alcohol loses its stranglehold and you take control of your life!!!! Go for it; give it all you've got.

Welcome back Maverick!!

For me support in the good times as well as the bad times was important, in isolation our addiction can try to sell us a fairytale and without a second opinion it can be very tempting!!

You can do this!!

Its great you came back here. But 11 years of heavy drinking will tend to make one feel worn out and sick. It will get worse, never better. You know you can do it. And in time you will no longer feel worn out and sick.

Thanks again for the positivity guys. 5 days in and I'm feeling good. I've been on a business trip all week and I have been offered free drinks every day! Normally I'd have been in my drunken element, drunk every night, staying up late in the bar and doing a half arsed job during the day I expect.
My biggest challenge will be this weekend, I have a wedding with a lot of friends, all of which will be drinking heavily., I'm not nervous, in fact I feel I can take on the goading and **** taking without feeling stressed.
I was talking to a girl from a dating website this week, we were getting on really well and she was very beautiful, anyway, I told her I was teetotal and...she has stopped talkign to me! In many ways I understand, if you live in the UK and don't drink you're an outcast, subnormal. Well, I genuinely don't mind because I realise if this is going to be my life have to fill it with people that are like minded or understanding enough to not care. On we go.
