darkness

I should be happy, or have happy thoughts. I don't. They are dark. Very dark. I'm hungry.

Don't forget the basics...HALT ( Hungry? Angry? Lonely? Tired? )....all of them can lead to tiredness/depression/etc.

Call someone if you are having dark thoughts...a counselor, a hotline, a minister, a doctor, anyone.

Hi Jeff,

We're here if you want to talk. And, make sure you get something to eat. That can help a lot.

Jeff, come backhere and talk to us. What's up? Can you get to the gym? Workout at home? Come on bud, you are one of my #1 motivators. Squats! Deadlifts! Work this out with a good sweat, not a drink. Please.

I understand anger, hunger, darkness, pain. I also know that nothing kills it like a mega workout. Come on, stay with us, you've got this. Chat here or message someone.

Jef, seriously, hang in there. These dark moments are a part of it, a part of real life. They have to be lived and dealt with. Drinking will not make them go away and most certainly will not make them better. I have been dealing with the absolute worst moments of my life these past 10 days. For real. And that is saying something considering the horrible things I have had to deal with. But I did it. I did it sober and I can assure you, even with only a minimal amount of time sober, I assure you that it was immeasurably more doable without alcohol.
I don't know what your post is about but I promise you that drinking will only make it worse. You might forget about it for a night but tomorrow it will still be there. It will still be there with a raging hangover to boot.
Come on. You know better than this. Hang in there, you can do this.

you are entitled to feel however you feel, be that happy or sad or dark or pensive or inspired. don't SHOULD on yourself.....that starts pushing out of your own body, your own reality and gets you to wishing for something else, to FEEL something else. and that's a tricky tricky spot.

Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired

make sure respect and address each of these as they arise. feed the body, feed the mind, feed the spirit. rest the body, soothe the mind, calm the spirit.

Jeff... having dark thoughts and feelings at times, I think, is totally normal part of life. So many great ideas and responses here so far... what can I add? Well, maybe this: I am pregnant and I think my hormones play the weirdest games sometimes... different from early sobriety but can also get a bit unsteady at times. I know without the slightest hint of doubt that there is no other way for me than through the sometimes crazy emotions, and use whatever support I have in the moment. Oh, and let alone the hunger spells...

So seriously, Jeff, what's going on?

Hi Jeff
You are going through a lot and this business decision is huge. Whether or not it is a good move it must still be very bittersweet. Your state of mind is probably to be expected. You, me, all small business owners ... Throw everything we have into them. We love them and hate them at times but they are ours and can tend to define us too strongly.
How are you doing with the sale/dissolution? I'm here if you ever need to talk.

At times I am guilty of having a mind that is like a washing machine, thoughts and emotions swirl around and in the end try and come out clean and healthy. Today when I got home from work, I just started thinking and reflecting, and realized that my whole life is filled with 2nd place trophies in life. 2nd place is the first loser. and it sucks.
