Beautiful pics! Love the "bar"!! I'm sure you tasted some good stuff.

About being alone, I know the feeling. But here's a pretty good article on the subject:

Why you should really start doing more things alone - The Washington Post

I try to break out and do things alone as well. It can be tough sometimes but well worth it (as your thread certainly shows)

I was watching the food channel and they were in the Chicago area I think.... Well they went on and on about how not to put katchup on them. I thought it was weird also. Correct me if anyone knows otherwise!

Ken, awesome thread man! I just got caught up, what incredible pictures and narrative.

Thanks for letting us in on your vacay.

I live in a tourist town too, I never just go out and explore... to have no place to be, is where I want to go sometime. As long as I'm sober. Heck, when I was drinking I could never remember where I needed to be!

I haven't spent any time in Maine, but it looks beautiful.

Glad you are enjoying your time. Well done!

Thanks for sharing your vacation. I love the photos! Not too far from me, and I have been to both locations.

Thanks! Ok... Got the kite ready... Off we go! Nice breeze today and Fort Washigton is a perfect kite flying location.

See you all later!

Reminds me of that Mary Poppins song -

Lets go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Lets go fly a kite
And send it soaring

Poor Della. I'm at work too.

You NEVER put ketchup on Chicago hot dogs. Ever. Chicago hot dogs have onions, relish, pickle, sport peppers and a sprinkling of celery salt. Oh, and tomato. No ketchup. I don't like relish or raw onion so I guess I fail there.

And I have seen moose close up and I subscribe to the theory that they wait on the side of the road in the trees until a car or motorcycle approaches and then make a beeline dart in front of the vehicle. I lived in northern New Hampshire for three months so I saw some moose, up close. Too close. Two cows and a calf breaking through the trees at a good clip. I stand by "darting "

I'm from Chicago. A traditional chicago dog should not have ketchup on it.

How could I not know about Chicago not putting ketchup on hot dogs? I grew up in the Detroit area. I should know that!

Love Mary Poppins. Art - have you seen "Saving Mr. Banks"? Its about the making of Mary Poppins. The scene where they come up with "Let's go fly a kite" is a great part of the movie! I really had no desire to see the movie but luckily happened to catch it on a plane...a real tear jerker. I highly recommend it if you're a Mary Poppins fan.

Sorry Weasel - realized I just highjacked your thread about both hotdogs and flying a kite. Forgive me!!

I think all animals have this - "Oh, something large that could hurt me coming...there is a clear spot ahead where I won't trip - I will run in that direction and fool the large thing that could hurt me, while not running into a tree."

Cats do it at night, too. I guess in animal (moose) brain, something coming at you means run.

I wish I could figure out an easy way to post pics. I take the picture then load it on my computer, then upload it to tinypic. I suspect my iPhone will load it to the cloud and make it easier, but I just dun wanna.

Thank you for taking us on vacay with you. I go everywhere alone too, so I get ya.

I'm against ketchup, but it has nothing to do with hot dogs. But to each their own.

Sounds like you're having the best vacation imaginable! And you didn't even have to go anywhere! I, for one, am jealous. I'm so glad you're keeping us up to date on everything!

I am a big fan of Chicago dogs! Best I've ever had.

But a mustard, onion, relish one is fab too.

No worries about hijacking one of my threads. Here for all of us.

See... I knew if we poked we would get the response I wanted. Lol. Chicago dogs with ketchup! Perfect!

Ok... Since we are on the dog topic... I love Target hot dogs!

Kite flying is freaking fun! There was a bus of people that looked to be from a home of some sort. They got a kick out of the kite. Was afraid I would lose it and pop one of them. As it was it did land in a bush once. I fished it out.

If you never flew one go do it! Speaking of windswept B I am feeling a little wind blow myself.

At 22K steps. I don't know. I did a lot today. Time to take a breather.

Hope everyone is sober and sane this fine evening.

And Lola... I liked the article. Sometimes we gotta just go do stuff alone. I don't think others will think I am a loser for doing stuff alone. I just miss sharing the joy with others. Kite flying was great! It was only when others around me were also having fun with it that it became something I got joy from.

Rock on BiM
