Glad you made it over the hump. Around 7 months was a difficult time for me, too. I'm pretty sure it was PAWS in my situation.

Yeah baby! That is awesome girl.

Seems like every month is hard sometimes or that it never gets easy. We forget how good we feel at times. We forget how much better we feel physically. Or forget how much better we look. And the diet has improved. Probably drank more water, juice, tea in the past 7 months than you have the the 7 years prior COMBINED.

And if we think about it....even during the most stressful or depressing times...the depression and stress is far better in the past 7 months. Even had some days with no stress, or dare I say no depression? For sure we feel a lot better and I mean A LOT BETTER overall then we did 7 months ago. At all angles.

Now during those times of strong urges, put a lot of effort into identifying why. And no matter what that "why" is....take a few minutes with no other concern or stress and start coming up with things that can be done to eliminate the source. Your AV knows a weakness. Do you know what that weakness is? If / once you do, take action on resolving it.

So, for example, my hardest trigger still is extreme stress. Especially when I'm on the verge of a panic attack. So it's very important I take steps to reduce that stress. Same goes for depression. I find treating myself even with a chocolate bar improves my mood. I also see s counselor. I've been praying a fair amount lately. And actually had chance to chat with a pastor a couple times as part of my job.

Which dark chocolate helps depression FWIW. I have Chocolate that is 90% cocoa. The higher the %, the more it helps depression. Or basically you don't have to each as much to get the benefit. Now I'm not a huge fan of it. Next time I might get 80%. But I'm starting to like 90% more and more. ALWAYS good with peanut butter!

The point is...there's something your AV is taking advantage of. Put your thoughts, your meditation time, prayer time, shower time, poopy time, and time you can to coming up with ideas to strengthen that weakness. Even the smallest improvements on what ever your AV knows about you, will make a HUGE difference. And those changes / improvements continue to grow and get better and better and easier.

I'm very sorry to say that I've relapsed. I'm sorry for disappointing everyone but the self loathing I'm feeling towards myself is no joke. I regret this immensely.

You had seven months so you know you can do it.
I relapsed also recently and I really understand how it can happen.
I have 13 days now and am sticking it this time.

Revise your sobriety plan and start Day 1 today Angie--
Nobody will judge you here--we get it

Calm

I know exactly how you feel. I drank last night too, although I only had a few weeks. Staying calm at the moment and committing to getting back on the path. Thank you for sharing - it means so much to this struggling alcoholic.

((Angie)) - I'm sorry you're struggling. What worked for me after I drank was to approach my recovery differently. I tend to isolate when I'm upset so what I did was keep the lines of communication open on SR, share, share, share, and go to AA meetings. What do you think you need to do differently?

Really sorry to hear Angie but you've learned so much over the last 7 months. Before you didn't know you could do this. Now you do! Get a plan and get started on round two. Hugs!!!

Hugs, Angie!
Please don't beat yourself up. Figure out how you were able to pick up that drink and beef up your strategy for keeping it from happening again.

You're a wonderful person, I get a lot of strength from following your posts.
Don't let guilt nag you, you can do this!
