thank you for all for your responses! I am going to try to find a recovery group other than AAA, but I will be using SR daily.it helped me immensely to stay sober for 5 years after that 5 years however I became out of control and have remained that way.time for me to be strong seek support and live life again

Welcome back, my friend!! I'm sorry for what you are going through, but I can share that SR, and the great people here, have gotten me to almost 8 years in recovery!!

I guess I don't follow any one program. I read all around SR, and I've learned of many things that help me. Yes, I use a bit of AA. I also use what I've learned about from native Americans, Buddhism and other things.

What led me to this point was wanting to be clean/sober, NO MATTER WHAT! From there, I tried a bit of this and that, and finally found what worked for me.

I'm sorry that you are struggling, but I'm really glad to see you back here.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Hang in there! I remember you back in 2008 when I first got sober. At least I "think" you were here? I too relapsed after 5.5 years and was out for 15 months. I'm back and still trying. I'm not sold on AA either. I went for the first few years (2008-2010) but only because I was court-ordered. I just haven't decided what route is best for me yet. It's too bad there aren't more programs out there besides AA. As others said, there are many ways to stay sober...the most important thing for us is to not drink no matter what! How did you stay sober for 5 years the first time?

Hang in there! :-)
