Sober Weekender Thread Holiday Edition - Nov 26 - 30!
Starting early at the request of Melki who has 5 months today!!! Anyone else with an anniversary please speak up!
My mother was no fool. She sat me down when I was very young. Explained how on Thanksgiving, Santa would send one his very best elves to watch over me and all the little boys and girls in my neighborhood. The magic elf was there to make sure that I was safe until Christmas but also to report back to Santa if I misbehaved. She explained how he hides so I can't see him but is always there.
Yup... You guessed it. This little one, in my bedroom every night, would talk to the elf... Cuz I thought I saw him under the bed or in the closet... Letting him know I was good! I remember asking my best friend that lived upstairs if he saw his elf. When he didn't I told him how I had a magic elf and all I had to do was be good and Santa would bring me more stuff! Needless to say the Lady upstairs got a freebie from my Mom that year.
It may not be Thanksgiving all around the world but I bet everyone reading this has something to be thankful for. Maybe a sober day here and there. Trying to string them together. Maybe many sober months or years and now trying to give back to others.
I think people like us, that understand what it takes to remain sober, have a deep respect for what it means to be thankful. I know I do.
Join the sober (holiday) weekender team by saying hello and sharing what you are up to this weekend!
*Ring Ring*
“The first bell is the bell of mindfulness, calling to me and you.
It says stop what am i doing right now, take some breaths, feel my body, am I holding it tight and tense? Relax… calm down… life is a journey and not a destination, make the journey as glorious as possible.
The second bell is the freedom bell and I'm ringing it for you to let you know freedom from drink and drugs is available to you, come and hear us calling out to you.” ~ Mecanix
There is room for all who want it on these sober buses!!!!

Elf on the Shelf precursor?
Yeah...need this thread big time this am. I fell off the sober bus last night. Had about 10 days and then... the bus hit a bump and I tumbled out. Do I have to wait until the next bus stop to re-board or can I jump on like hobos used to do with slow moving trains?

ArtFriend... We have wolves on the roof... window seat people... shotgun riders.. quiet ones who lurk... hobo's welcome to jump on as we go!
OK... LB... Please explain!

The Elf comes to visit on Friday, with a surprise, an EIT (elf in Training) girls don't know it yet, they will be pretty surprised.
Artfriend lets just get back up, I was there Monday(won't talk about it again...haha)
I'm on this bus for sure!

Just what I needed today. Thank you weasel for such a welcoming invitation, no matter where we are in our journey. I slept off 2 days of sneaky drinking, so I'm feeling strong and committed. I like sober me and my sober life so much better. I want to experience this holiday season 100%, not buzzed or hungover. I wish I could trust myself more but one day at a time has to be the mindset.

I must have sox elves. Either that or my sox decide to run away from home. I saw one on the street the other day...laying on there near the curb. So sad.
well geeze, wife was up all night writing a report, it was 38 and rainy when I got up.
I had to proof read and correct her paper. Since then it is now 30, snowing like a beach and everything is white outside. I have to drive to the college to drop off the report before the school closes - she's going to sleep.
sorry about the underpants gnome thing -- if you don't know the entire story it is kind of creepy. But southpark has always been creepy just the same. For some of us tho, it's one of the funniest shows ever.
