After a 29 year relapse
After a 29 year relapse
Hello all I am Eric and I am definitely and alcoholic!
In 1984/85 in my late teens I was ordered to the program by the courts. Wasn't ready, I had too much misery to go through yet. On 10/18/2014 I had my last drink, and don't remember it at all. Though there will be legal repercussions from that night.
I bonded out of jail on the 20th, and went home to see the devastation I had caused to my place. I spent that evening and the next cleaning up and thinking. The evening of the 22nd,after work, I went to the place where I use to go on Wednesday nights for a meeting. Thank God for smart phones because the meeting had moved to another location...
Have been to a meeting and getting a support group of sober people around me every evening since.
Well here I am looking for more support as I can spend time on the internet while at work.
God bless you all

I too went to my first AA meeting many years back and now attend daily. Willingness is the key!! Sounds like you have that = good!
Glad you are here - welcome to the island of misfit toys....we need an Eric!

Welcome barefoot. If you want support and encouragement on your journey to sobriety you're at the right place.
It appears things are little rough right now, but if you put down the booze, things will almost certainly get better.

hey there and welcome.
my new sobriety date is oct 31.....Halloween...and happy and safe Halloween to all.....may the good spirits protect us on our respective journeys.......
yes I can certainly relate....oct 25 would have been my 1 year anniversary.....
have had 10 years sober,,,,,on the instalment plan,,,,,,prior, got siber 26 lasted til 32, had another 2 year period, rehab...another year, many things have impacted on my relapses...but I do not regret any of it....my time in sobriety has been the most rewarding, fulfilling, safe and serene periods of my life, coupled with the abject misery, chaos and general trauma of a number of relapses.....
heres to another day sober, and we are here for you...as I am for me.
peace
