alcohol not worth it.
Welcome to SR! Congrats on 5 days.
Also don't forget that once you break out of that cage your addiction has you in, life can be a pretty swell place. Less bad stuff is good, but more good stuff is even better.

Welcome and congrats on 5 days! I'm the same, I lose all control after that one drink, once the booze is in me the beast gains control, nothing good ever results from that. The good news is anyone can quit, I'm still a work in progress myself but I will do this. As can you!
I needed to read this post today. I'm at day 6 myself today.
And the thought about drinking was bouncing around my head today...DESPITE the fact the week before these last 6 sober days was absolute Hell. (I have the past posts to prove it.)
We need to be constantly vigilant to protect our sobriety. You've helped me today. Thank you.

Congrats. Your so right about that first drink. A counselor I saw last yr said he could probably go out and buy a six pack and drink 2 but it only accelerates from there.. He also said to look at it like a snake.
Welcome James - glad to meet you!
I often wish I'd kept a diary - not to dwell on all the bad things that happened, but I don't want to ever forget how low I sank in the end. Good to have you with us - you found a great place for support.
