Hi all, I'll be joining. Nearly did this a few months back but didn't make the commitment and since then I've regretted it on more than one occasion. Today is actually day 13 for me but I wanted to join a class right from the start. I hope we can all help each other on this journey.
In terms of plans for the evening, rather than going out with work people this Friday evening I'm having a night in, and then getting up tomorrow at a reasonable time to go climbing!

I joined in August a year ago. Have not done well but I'm ready to try harder this time. I'm finally realizing I have to give this the serious work needed to be successful. I will need to come here more often. I planned this day and said goodbye to the drink yesterday. I know the cravings will come. I know the events and parties will happen. I know days at work will be stressful. There are no excuses good enough to go back. None. Wishing you all well.

Hey Applekat, yeah me too.. Can get a bit lonely, but I'm watching some baseball (new sport for me (I'm not from the US)) which is keeping me occupied.
Walls, bouldering in fact, but it's only the second time I'm going - I might pick it up a bit more seriously though as I do enjoy it.
How's your evening looking?

Greetings, SR Class of August 2014!
I'm "Venecia" and I'm a recovering alcoholic. Two weeks from now, I will have a year of sobriety. Like my friend/classmate JDooner, I joined the SR Class of August 2013 in October of last year. The support our class offers one another has been instrumental in my recovery, helping build my own accountability and confidence.
Congratulations to all of you on your decision to change your life for the better. Yes, it's hard work -- we wouldn't be here if it was easy -- but I also want to let you know it is definitely doable. If you'd asked me 18 or 24 months ago if I ever was going to escape the prison of alcoholism, I wouldn't have known what to say. Today, I'm here to say you can do it!
Best wishes. I'm happy to check in from time to time and offer continued encouragement.

Im in, day 4 here but feel only just relatively normal so need the accountability. Had a 3month streak over xmas of sobriety then a 9wk one until a couple of wks ago when I went on a ten day binge, I get well then ease off on the recovery and it costs me dear, hope to make it stick this time.
I think I'm hitting up a bubble bath, slice of pizza and watching Noah with my OH.
1step - impressive time over the Xmas holiday. That's one of the things that trips me up if I think too far ahead. Sober firsts. Particularly Xmas. I'm reminding myself for now to just look through this weekend!
Thanks for the words Venecia and JDooner!!
