This occurs a lot. I feel good, have a productive day, and want nothing more than to drink wine and smoke cigarettes outside with the animals feeling great about what Ive accomplished and admiring the farm and animals.

How bout an icy glass of pink lemonade on the patio for a little R&R? Thing is...you won't lounge like a lizard there drifting into alcoholic haze for hours on end to eventually stumble round...pick a fight with your man, post incoherent blather on Facebook, eat cold chinese food from the container in front of the fridge...and then pass out in your clothes and makeup on the couch to awake tomorrow morning in shame and discontent about why ya can't freakin' quit drinking.

This was one of the biggest triggers for me... having a great day. Just because.
You'll have to retrain your brain to not give into those urges. The more you say no, the more you remind yourself that drinking is no longer an option... remind yourself of the negative consequences that do happen when you drink... the easier it gets over time.

I can relate, even a few weeks ago, after a long time of sobriety, something really great happened and BANG, right out of the blue, my endorphins started saying...."yay....let's go get some Champagne and REALLY get the party started. Yeeha, life is goooooooood".
Ummm, well, life would not be good if I did that. I kind of shook my head at myself, forgot about it and went home. But yes, never realised that happiness meant a drink for me also.

Windancer, Yep, don't drink tonight. I don't drink because of the hangovers. I had a really rough night last night where I was really tempted for about two minutes. It feels much better to say no. It felt good to wake up this morning. You'll feel better tomorrow. Mel.
