I quit counting!

It's weird. I have not touched a drink for 38 days. For the first month I marked "No Drink" on my calendar. Since the 17th of April I show no marks on the calendaer keeping track of my non-alcoholic days. Do you think this actually means that I am focusing on other things in life besides drinking I'm beginning to feel I am sort of reaching that pleasant plate. Yet, a few days ago there was the thought of drinking just one glass of wine I am proud of how much I have accomplished and how much more I will accomplish in the days ahead.

*giving myself that boost of confidence l.o.l.

It's natural to move the focus away from just not drinking, I think
I think you're doing great, airwick

who told you it was 38 days? c'mon!

Way to go. I know what you mean about not counting the days anymore. It's a good feeling to not be so focused on just counting days. There is a lot more to sobriety than just not drinking.

LBrain: I was scheduling some needed information on the calendar and noticed there had been no "X" for quite sometime! I guess I , in a somewhat round a bout way, reminded myself

You can count the days without a drink. That's one way to do it, but as many find, it puts too much focus on the drink.

I try to look at it differently, from a positive.

I see each day sober as a blessing. So I don't mind accounting for them.

1328 days and counting!

A book called give up drink easily states do not count days as its almost like a goal and try to think that simply I no longer drink, it also says do not try to not think of drinking as you will and accept the thoughts will be there for a while so dont fear them.

Dog: That logic is "cute"; counting each day as a blessing

I don't think counting is the be all to be honest, I mean it's good to know where you are at but not counting does not de-rail your focus at all, it's just that there is more to life than thinking about it 24-7. The way I look at it is that if you are always counting then you are subcontiously always thinking on some level about drinking if that makes sense, just my opinion.
