over thinking

I'd like some thoughts on this. I'm a really deep thinker and it often causes me to replay situations over and try to see them from all sides. I also need to talk about things until I feel understood and that I understand the other person. Is this at all normal?

I do the same thing and it turns out it makes me move far away from acceptance in situations. I think about things and what I could have differently instead of just accepting what happened, trying to learn from it, and moving on. I also think it kept me worrying about stuff that was irrelevant. I am chalking it up to my "old way of thinking" which will get me "nil results". I seem to be able to catch myself more often now (8 months in).

Good luck!

I do this a lot and call it my overthinking. Playing stuff over and over in my head. What could I have done or said differently. Why, why, why? I don't have any solutions but I do know it has paralyzed me in many situations from making decisions and I've stayed stuck for too long when I could have moved forward. I think that the solution is what ck2013 said. Accept it, learn from it and move on. Not always easy to practice.

Deep thinking has it's place, but not so much in getting sober.
