Anyone planning today to be Day 1? I am!
I found it. The film is called, "UNGUARDED"
Yes he was a basketball player. But it is not really a sports movie at all. I first saw it when I was in rehab.

Hi applekat. We promise it doesn't feel this intense for long. The first few days are rough as we adjust to our 'new normal'. You're doing the right thing by keeping yourself distracted through tv, books, whatever it takes. (I'm in Upstate too - so it might be too chilly for a walk - but later on, walking really helps.)
Glad you reached out here. We care, and we know you can do this.

I have Caroline knapp's book, Drinking: A Love Story. I really wanted to pick up a couple other recovery related books but couldn't find them in stock nearby. So I may be doing an amazon order today too.
Anyone else want to share their plan?
Laura my toughest time of day will be about 4-8 PM. And then the weekends. Trying not to think too far ahead though.

8:30 PM here. Getting my second kiddo to bed, then winding down myself, with tea...!! Hope the rest of you are doing well. Thepatman - maybe you're off to bed already!
Thanks for the movie recs!

Keep it up Applekat and Laura! My story seems similar to yours -- two young kids, wine in the evenings (4-8 pm) to relax and make it until bedtime.
I'm on Day 9. Feeling good. I've been running and doing yoga to get out of my head a bit. Also, I was singing to the radio in the car this morning. Maybe my anti-depressants are working now that I took alcohol out of the mix.
I also substituted tonic water and cranberry juice for the wine. So I still have something in my hand during my triggering hours.
We got this, right?

Hi all, Day 2 here. Enrolled for a 30 day health challenge involvibg a little light excersise every day and healty eating. Thinking it will keep me occupied. And the wether is great here, so walks and jogging will be great. Nothing extreme though, sobriety first.
Day 2 here, as well. Great job Laura!
Hoping for a jog today and also hoping to find another book at the library to read.
I didn't sleep that great but hopefully that will come in time.
Enjoying the morning without nausea and vertigo etc.
So dang happy.

Evening or morning where you are, glad you got the first day out of the way. As Hevyn says, it really does get easier.
I was a big drinker and enjoyed it, or so I thought! So the cravings were in my head constantly, the mind plays a lot of tricks, sorry if I'm repeating myself, but it seems to be a similar experience for a lot if us.
I got so I recognised the 'weaker' thoughts and learnt how to deal with them without giving in to them.
Life is so much better without booze. Keep with us, Applekat, Laura and Becky, we are all here in the same boat going in the same direction. If the going gets tough, shout for help, we are listening. Xx
