Red face Wanting to meet sober friends

Merry meet. My name is Zach. I have been an alcoholic for 6 years. I'm twenty five years old and am so glad I have recognized my addiction. I have been through it all, but am at that point in my life where drinking is no longer pleasureable. I have found that the shame and guilt that comes along with drinking leads me in a downward spiral of depression to the point of cutting off everyone in my life. When I try to reach out to people I no longer feel important or worthy of their attention. I am disconnected with reality and find myself creating a world of introversion that is harming me. I have made steps in the past to stop drinking. My longest was 62 days. Now I am 20 days into recovery, and through the graciousness of the mother I am thankful for each day of sobriety. I have become more of a spiritual person in the past couple of months which has been a huge motivation for me. I have made steps to look into the future and to follow my soul's direction. I guess this is just a little introduction to the group. It's hard to find sober friends out there and those worthy of my attention. Nice to meet you all. Blessed Be.

Hi Zach
I'm Rowan, and I'm an alcoholic. Way to go! 20 days! I love this site; I haven't been posting here for very long but everyone has been so supportive and as encouraging as though they have known me a long time. It's a wonderful feeling. I used to think there weren't any sober people out there, but then, I wasn't looking beyond the friends I drank with. I go to lots of AA meetings, and have some great friends in my life today because of it. When you sober up, it's common to hear in AA that you need to change people, places and things. It's good to have you here, Zach. Keep coming back.

Yeah, I do know about the alcohol content in NA beverages. I was just wondering what people's reactions to it are. I have drank them in the past when I was "sober" some good, some bad. Currently I do not drink them. Presenting this poll was something that has been going on in my head for years. You hear about people quitting drinking but drink NA beer. Is this a contradictive action and is that .005 % alcohol content really a means to further one's alcoholism...or is it okay for some to drink it and live life to one's capability?

Few years back I tried NA beer. I did fine with them, they didn't trigger anything, but that me. Today I dont choose to go there. One thing that I noticed, 1 or 2, I was really full, and I had to **** a real lot. Thats no fun!!

Welcome Zach! Tom, garden variety alcoholic here. Since NA drinks have alcohol, why the h*ll drink 'em? My two cents..........

Hang around, there is NO excuse to drink, none.

Keep Coming Back!
