So cold!

I am in Washington State and it is 29 degrees at night. I know that it is probably colder someplace else but this is freakin cold! Alcohol was a warm layer in my body all year long. While I hated being too hot and sweating out the alcohol, a tiny part of me misses the warmth, especially at a time like this.

On the other hand, something interesting happened last night. I went to my sister's to babysit my nephew. She opened the fridge to show me what I could make us for dinner. She saw an opened bottle of wine in the fridge and DUMPED IT DOWN THE KITCHEN SINK!! The only person I have seen do that is my dad when he tried to get my mom sober one time. Any other person I have ever been around, including myself, would have considered that 'alcohol abuse.' I hugged her and told how that was such a breath of fresh air to see someone do that.

Hi PattyJ

I remember going to a friends place and he was holding a beer when I entered the house. He then proceeded to hide it behind his back. It was so obvious. I had a chuckle to myself and said it's okay met I am not going to steal it from you . We don't see each other much any more. You soon find out who your real friends are.

pattyj ,
thanks for the reminder that , thanks to my sobriety i can afford to pay my utility bills .

It's cold here in the UK tonight , i might wear my woolly bobble hat to bed tonight 20% of your body heat can be lost through your head so it's a good thing to do on those cold nights .

bestwishes, m

Not meaning to hijack yer thread Patti - but clearly I'm not the only one cracking up, in different countries around the world, trying to imagine Dave in his bedtime woolly wobble cap - like Wee Willie Winkie (which character I remember playing in a ballet concert back in the dark ages of my childhood; complete with that nineteenth century style floppy white bed cap and a white nightgown).

But as always, Dave's immensely practical, so perhaps you could invest in just such a thing. And then post us a pic, heheh.

I hate being cold too. Ive found that a heating pad on my lower back works great set on low. I almost can't sleep without one.

A woolly bobble hat? Like this one?

That's called a toque, eh?

I think we call it a toque because if we had to use five syllables to ask for one, we'd be froze solid.

I can relate! I am definitely colder without the alcohol. Nice in the summer, but not so much now when it's supposed to be 16 degrees F tonight! Brrrr
