On to day 3...

Day 2 went pretty smooth. Every time I thought about having a beer, I reminded myself of a quote I found here on SR in a thread - I told myself "not an option"!
On to Day 3 today, need to keep myself distracted and occupied tonight....!!!! Wish me luck!

Well keep posting here!

Congrats on day three, the first few days/weeks can be the toughest. Good quote to hang onto, "not an option."

Good for you Cougar.

That's what worked for me. When I told myself drinking was no longer an option, my mind started to slowly find healthy ways to get through the day.

Today is day three for me as well. It's weird I really crave a drink right after I get off work, so today after work when I got gas, I got a drink, simply lemonade n it tasted darn good. Made me forget about the beer I would have purchased. Then when I got home I treated myself to icecream, I deserved it . Good luck to you be kind to yourself

Thank you all for your support and good wishes, it rocks that a bunch of virtual strangers can be so good to each other.
foothills, I am the same and really crave that after work beer but I am afraid if I stop for gas and go in, my auto pilot will take over so today I got gas at lunchtime instead, which is not a time I would usually get a beer! Lemonade sounds great tho, I might try that tomorrow!

Congratulations! Keep it on!
There are SO MANY delicious non-alcoholic drinks in this world...most of them taste better than alcohol anyways...Yesterday was standing between the supermarket and the liquor store, and then thought.. WHY NOT? - went in and bought a bottle of goat's milk.. So I was walking back home ( I used to ALWAYS drink beer when I walk home), drinking goat's milk (that I love), and feeling happy.
