For me early sobriety is like waking from a deep sleep.

I can pretend like the past was all just a bad dream.

Skillfully executed to make me think I was nothing... A loser... A drunk drugged out freak.

Orchestrated at the highest levels all to make me believe what was is.

A cliche of someone out of control and on the ride of his life. Never stopping long enough to see where I had arrived.

It was not a dream. I have assured myself. Today my dreams are about my future and not my past. They embody the hope that being sober gives me and I embrace it with joy.

There is a lot of good to come from this if I make it so. Ride my pink cloud off into the sunset.

For today... Just for today. I will not drink.

Today is all we will ever have. I plan on making the most of it

I just do it day by day. The one day at a time concept is so important. For those out there still struggling you can do it minute by minute, hour by hour if you have to.
