Sometimes I am wistful for alcohol.because_____, but then I soon realize that _____.

Sometimes I am wistful for alcohol, because... I feel lonely.
But then I realize..... Alcohol was never a friend to me anyway!
All it did was use me... And take, take, take!!! And leave me devastated.
What about YOU??

Because I feel anxious and scared, but... then I realize, it won't solve any of my problems and only gives me MORE stuff to worry about!!!!!

Almost all of my major life problems I have/have had, have been caused on some level by drinking. Wow. That's a reality check. I wouldn't have any real worries, except maybe being scared of the dentist lol, if I never had drank!

Because I feel really good, and if I feel this good sober imagine how I'd feel after a couple of drinks, but then I realize it's just an illusion.

Sometimes I am wistful for alcohol because I'm an alcoholic, but then I soon realize that I don't drink like a normal person. Today, I like my sober life.

Sometimes I am wistful for cocaine because....I never had to worry about anything. But then I soon realise that having to worry about stuff is part of life and that I wasn't really living.

Sometimes I am wistful for alcohol because I felt like it made my life more of an adventure, but then I soon realize what is the point of adventures I don't quite remember or ones I didn't want to have.

Sometimes I'm wistful for alcohol because it helps me deal with stress, then I realize it almost completely ruined my life...ironically it was the largest stress creator in my life.

Sometimes I am wistful for alcohol because I want the easy way out...
But then I realize, alcohol was the HARD way, my problems got worse, and sobriety is the EASY way, because I can deal with whatever, and move on!

i'm not wistful for alcohol, i know it will kill me slowly....it almost succeeded.
it wasn't me that used to entertain myself with thoughts of suicide, it was the booze.

i want to live and that means i just dont drink anymore.

Sometimes I am wistful for alcohol because I tend to get ahead of myself and fear begins to show up or I get a reminder of an actual good time while drinking. Soon I realize though thoughts like that will only put me back into depression. If I keep myself in the future I'm neglecting the present and putting myself at greater odds of becoming unhappy.

Because I'm tired and/or stressed but then I realise the sensation I want to get would actually just make me feel a bit confused, out of control and distressed because my brain has found other, more successful ways.

Sometimes I'm wistful for alcohol because I've had a bad day at work. And then I realise my bad day at work was because of alcohol.

I've only just made this connection! Thanks EQ

Sometimes I'm wistful for alcohol, because I miss fun times with a friend who likes to drink.
But then, I soon realize that he needs to stop drinking too, and my not drinking may encourage him to try sobriety.

Sometimes I am wistful for alcohol because: my brain isn't fully recovered from years of alcohol dependence,
But then I remember: that the longer I stay sober, the better my brain will recover!!

Sometimes I'm wistful for alcohol because it "liberates" me from my dark thoughts and painful memories, but then I realize that it is doesn't liberate me, but builds an invisible prison.
