Almost slipped but made it 2 weeks

Today will be 2 weeks sober!
Yesterday was a really tough one and the first day I honestly wanted to drink. So far, I don't know why, but I haven't' really desired a drink. I've been pretty lost in my head and not sure what's going on most of the time, and Ive been sleeping a ton, but other than that I'm getting by. But yesterday...
I had a ton going on and it was the kind of day where you do all the big things and then reward yourself at the end with drinking. In fact, part of the 'ton going on' was a kids birthday party and several parents brought me alcohol as gifts for watching their kids. One was a big jug of fresh beer from a local brewery. Lordy!
I was so sure I was going to drink it after the party. But somehow I didn't. I'm not going to meetings yet and my religion is more just vague spirituality, but people, I swear, there is some other power acting in me these days.
And I'm really grateful.

Congrats on your 2 weeks !!!!!

Hey Pacs, congrats on your strength ! You speak as though you understand the 1st 2 steps of AA perfectly. 1) Knowing you your life is powerless with alcohol and 2) the spirituality of a higher power will guide you to sanity. ( not the steps word for word but thier messages). Oddly enough , I'm sober 2 months, I spoke to someone yesterday who is 2 yrs and his sponsor is 20 yrs. I'll tell ya, your message gave me the strength for today. Thank you and all the best ! One day at a time.

Remember Pacs , it will take a while for people to catch on you are not drinking anymore. Call it what you want, a break, a liver cleanse, or what ever you want to make it easier for yourself. If they are your real friends , they will respect your decision.
