| A simple guy making his way | No tricks.... All treats!
I am not scared! I cannot be fooled so easily! Sundays I am bedeviled by my addictive voice. Well the Jason mask won't work this time. The fear is gone. I have been sober everyday this month except the last two Sundays. I have a cold right now and a fever. That seems to make it easier to want to stay sober since I feel like crap to begin with. But I make no assumptions. I have three meetings at various points in the day should I feel up to leaving the house. I will be making chicken soup. First the chicken stock and then the soup. That's a nice slow process that keeps me occupied and gives me some sense of satisfaction. But I want another kind of satisfaction. That won't come until tomorrow morning getting ready for work. When I have broken my patterns. If you know me then you must be tired of me always reaffirming my commitments on Sundays. if you know me then you also know how long in the making this victory is. There have been other sober sundays but not when I have been doing so well that this is the final remaining weak spot to overcome. No tricks today! ![]() Only treats! I will be on SR all day so it would be nice to hear from you. How are you staying sober today??? K. |

Sounds like you have a good plan to stay sober today, soup sounds good! Sundays are not triggers for me, weekend nights are. I have a wedding to go to, going to be the first wedding ever without drinking.... I need to start coming up with a plan for myself for this upcoming Saturday night! Posting on here is a good way of holding yourself accountable. Looking forward to a post from you Monday morning talking about your success. |

I agree.... Be accountable is an element to this that I need. I have to speak with my sponsor and that's a huge motivator. My job has escalated in responsibilities. I want to be sharp because I love what I do and it requires some thought. Nothing is more satisfying than to be able to form sentences on a Monday morning. Not hiding from co workers because I am shaking. Not covering my breath with gum all day. Being able to look people in the eye. None of these things was a motivator in the past. Because I just did not want anything but drinking. They are motivators today. Because I don't want drinking in my life any more. That is such a huge changes for me. Good luck at the wedding. Good you are planning now. Sleep well Dee! |

As Dee kinda referd to , you have been sober all Sunday in Australia already today .. just need to keep your eye on the sweep of time across our planet to make it through .. On my apps i have the time in Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, Moscow, London, New York, Chicago & San Dieago it sometimes helps to watch it somehow .. back when i was counting the miuites i found hunting web-cams from those places reassuring , seeing the sunset over Sydney harbour bridge and those auzzies going home , looking at time square seeing the evening .. Keep warm , M

| I definitely remember how aweful I feltwith a hangover the next day after a day and night of drinking. However today, I dont need the drink to make me remember because all I have to do is forget how much salt they put in those deliver pizzas and get so dehydrated during the night, wake up spinning, drink water then throw up. YUK.!! ![]() There's too many other things in life for me to experience to remind me how much I hate that sick hangover feeling after drinking. Too much sun, not enough water, salty foods. Im happy and grateful to be sober and not spinning and throwing up my insides today.

Weasel, I can totally relate about the work things. I have a super good IT career in government and was having the same issues as you. I would come in from a wekend binge, and even if I slowed down on the Sunday, Monday morning was the worst. I was so stressed about shaking, my breath. That in itself is worth the pain I'm going trough.

Have a great day, Ken and remember, it is really hard to put enough garlic in your chicken soup.

P the chicken soup cam out better than expected. Needs a little salt though. :0) I like monday mornings actually. When I am sober. I have a meeting at 2 that I need to get in early and prepare for so at least my mind will be occupied all moring. That makes it go quick. Maybe I will find time to post some here if I need a break.
