| One year ago today
A year ago, I was drinking around the clock. I was shaking uncontrollably if I went without a drink for even 4-5 hours. My entire body would shake. I could even feel my face twitch, my hands and entire arms shook, and so did my legs. I looked like hell. I had no appetite. I threw up 2-3 times a day. A year ago tomorrow was when I first detoxed. I was sitting at home, and my head would not stop shaking (looking back I think I was probably on the verge of a seizure). I called my parents and my dad took me to the ER. My blood alcohol was 0.413!!! I should have been in a coma. It only took 3 more detoxes (rolling eyes) for me to get it, but I thank God that I did get it. I'm 51 days sober now, and have never felt better. What a year it has been. I plan to never touch a drink again, and with the support from AA and SR, which help me to keep faith and courage, and to keep believing in myself, I think I can do it Thanks for reading

WTG bjames, keep it going. I had the brain jolts during the last few years of my drinking and they got really bad in my detox \ early recovery, it did feel like a seizure or coma was possible at any moment. I had such a low expectation of success back then (one year ago) that I didn't bother with contacting help, in hindsight I wish I could do that part differently. Only by the grace of God (and the help received from other alcoholics\addicts) I am alive & well today. Best wishes.

Wonderful! You should be so proud. I should be dead too because of the amounts I was consuming...my BAL was .01 away from where respirtation usually stops. Reading your story gives me hope and inspiration. Thank you for contributing to this community and all the best to you in your continued recovery!!!
