Day 2

Struggling a little today. Feeling very irritable and really want a drink. Had been fighting it all afternoon so went for a nap. Woke up and still feeling it. Been eating everything is sight, haha. Yesterday felt so easy, hope the cravings don't get worse and worse. I knew this wouldn't be easy, but I am pulling my hair out right now.

Detox isn't recovery. Even if you get through the detox without drinking, what are your plans for staying sober? Face to face support is an option. It's the kind of support you can lean on when the cravings get bad.

Stay strong.

I will be having regular appointments with the substance misuse nurse to work with her after the detox. Also, going to be seeing the dual diagnosis specialist and a CPN.

Hey islandlass ,
this feeling will pass, i remember how jittery and iritable i was in the early days . It is just tempoary and it will pass i promise .. i found shouting a whole string of profanities in the car just took the edge off , going swimming or having a long shower .

Bestwishes, M

Stick with it Islandlass It does get better. Feel free to eat everything and sleep as much as you can. I didn't know what to do with myself in the early days, I spent hours cooking (which is something I hate doing) and walking lots and most of the time I just dragged myself to bed. Just do anything but drink. You can do this! x

Planning on a long walk tomorrow, just to get out of the house and get some fresh air in me. Plus, if I don't I will be the size of a house by the end of the week, haha.

Walks are good, in fact anything is good that you don't associate with drinking. I would no sooner step foot in my favorite bar than the man on the moon would. I won't sit down on the couch until I'm past the witching hour. Baths, gyms, hikes, walks, showers, eat a big meal, all of it is superior to waking up with a hangover and chasing a buzz.
