Just got home from my sober vacation!!! - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

8 days of sobriety at the lake!!! It was pretty easy actually. I knew I was sober and was a non-drinker and had very little cravings. At a few places I wanted a bloody mary (bc the best bloody marys are on the lake) and even though I knew at that time I could have just one- that isn't what I want in life anymore. Having just one with my parents at the lake would be easy...but when I got back home that one would turn into two etc.

I also knew that my mom had hydrocodone with her and that didn't tempt me. I know I am not "recovered" though. Yesterday I almost went to the ER for what I thought was a scratched cornea. After about 6 hours the pain went away and I didn't go, but in my mind I was picturing the ER dr giving me an rx for pain pills and what was I going to do with the. Would I not take the rx, would I take it and get it filled and give it to my husband to hold, or, would I get it filled and hold on to it myself, which I have to say both excited and scared the crap out of me. Thankfully the pan went away and my eye is fine, but the experience showed me how vulnerable I am.

Can't wait to go see my AA friends at a meeting tonight!!
