I'm thinking we are all here as support for each other. To share our experience, strength and hope to move on in a life of recovery.

Is there such a thing? Or is a delusion that we create when we abhor our lack of control? Self denial can be as destructive as alcohol.

Self denial is worse...You can't fix a problem you don't think you have...I don't what you are doing to try to stay sober...But I'm in AA and the first step we have is admitting to ourselves we are alcoholic...And there can't be any future of normal drinking...It takes a lot of weight off when you can come to grips with that...I denied that for over 30 years...And I'm lucky to be here.

So is the affliction real or imagined? The only reason im here is because some people i know loosely are concerned about a problem that may be real or imagined. Like christmas in the psych ward im not here cause i wamt to be. Alcohol has never given me a problem aside from the hangovers - but that hardly qualifies an illness real or imagined.

Why don't you try stopping for 90 days and see if you can do it?...If that's not a problem..You have nothing to worry about.

You are obviously angry that you can't drink/use anymore. I felt the same emotions but I came to realize that I'd rather live sober than to die drunk or high.

I just discovered this site this past weekend and it has already helped me a lot. It's nice to have a community of people to share my problems with and they are very supportive even though I'll probably will never meet them.

All Things Will Pass and life is worth living!

Thats the fallacy. Its not for ninety days. And it isnt worth living drunk or sober. Not one os us is alive by choice. You dont get punch cards in the great Prologue asking if youd like to live. We, are here by default. Like a vowel after q. Nothing makes life via syntax easier to swallow, straight or wasted.

Ah, you brought back some memories of the '70's in the Psych Ward.

I don't miss them, nor the state of mind I was in when I was admitted.
All the best.

I decided my life was worth living years ago , it lead to giving up drugs, smoking and drinking .
I found sitting outside the cardiac ward and in A&E a few years back pritty eye opening .

Actually if you read out back stories I think a good deal of us are alive by choice Rojo

I'm sorry you don't want to be here - tho I'm puzzled why you'd be here if you didn't want to be?

whats going on?

If you have a problem with reality Gonzo I'd consult some philosophy books, or maybe a psychiatrist.

If it's a alcohol or drug problem I'd stop doing it and see how things turn out for you in a few months. These thing tend to **** with our heads a bit and I know for myself that things got better quite quickly once alcohol was out of the picture.

Whether or not you actually think you have a problem or not, if someone has brought it up it's worth addressing. And everyone should try out sobriety, at least once x
