| Summer cookout
These words used to mean one thing...drunkfest! Tonight I got invited to a cookout in mid June. It will be a family gathering of people from my kids' religious school. I like these people but they are not my "drinking" friends. Before I got sober an invite like this would make me very nervous. I knew I wanted to get drunk, but I didn't want these people to see me like that, so I would concentrate all night on only having a few and because I was trying so hard I wouldn't even enjoy those drinks, or any part of the night. After thinking about it I realized this year these parties will be more fun. I know I won't be drinking so I can spend all my energy on socializing. It is a freeing thought!

Yay for not being ashamed of who you are! I used to feel like that way around certain groups of people too. I love being able to walk into a group and feel like I am worth as much as anyone else there.
