My story
I have only been in recovery for about six months so I may be too new at this to help anyone? I have been reading the site for a few months and decided to join today and wanted to say thanks to all who all who posted their stories and especially candygirl for sharing the book on a dysfunctional past you liked because I bought it and it has helped me a ton. I am doing well but the anxiety had been a problem but I think the tea form exercises in that book are helping learn to turn off my cravings. Thanks again to everyone and hopefully soon I will be able to offer help to others here
Welcome to a great place to share experience, strength, and hope with each other! We have a wonderful international family here and we work together for the common good. Make yourself at home, read and post as you like, and again, welcome!

For those who are interested... I am over a year now and no big setbacks so I can't complain. Not a big fan of Memorial Day weekend because too many around me just want to drink to excess, but I am handling it well so far and it will be over in another 24 hours.
I have shared the TEA form exercise from the book on Anxiety by Sam Obitz with several of the people at my meetings and they have helped quite a few of them change the way they think about alcohol and really help those who also suffer from anxiety. So if you also have anxiety issues like me I highly recommend giving this exercise a try.
I hope all of you are winning your daily battles and thanks for all the support!

New to Sober Recovery...
Hi Jbr,
Welcome to SR. We have a lot of combined experience, strength & hope for the sharing to help you along your continued journey to Sobriety.
I have been sober quite a while but coming here renews my strength & hope for each new day.
I also have a diagnosis of Depression/Anxiety along with my Alcoholism. My life still has some ups & downs but it is so much better being sober.
Keep coming back. Keep reading & post whenever you get the urge to ask questions, or give some of your experiences with getting sober.

Thanks Kelsh
Notes like yours are so positive and encouraging and of course appreciated!
I made it through the weekend and feeling good. Just need to check back in here and read some notes to help remind me that I am on the right track.
Sorry to hear you have the anxiety and depression diagnosis as well. I am begining to think that is the underlying problem for a lot of people based on the meetings I attend. I hope you find something that helps you deal with your anxiety and depression like I have, makes the whole process so much smoother.

Wow, six months!!!! I'm new here too. People in my AA meetings with 10+ years tell me all the time that they learn a lot from newcomers. It reminds them of where they were and why they keep coming back.

I have almost 3 years and I have so much more to learn, I do gain from the newcomers as well as the oldtimers.
