Taking Some Time to Dry Out

So my supportive mother told me today that I'm just taking time to dry out and I'll be back to drinking normally soon. What the hell?

I've heard this before. Not the same words but in the same context. I don't know what to think of it myself. I know it does not feel good. I now choose to stay away from the subject of sobriety with said person. I don't need anything like that coming my way. Just keep doing what you are doing. It takes awhile for others to catch onto our new found freedom!!!! Your doing an amazing job.

Just make it real on your end and don't let the noise effect you...

It was so deflating. I know people don't mean it because I don't think anyone but an alcoholic understands the alcoholic mind. Wouldn't I love to just dry out, snap my fingers, and be cured.
