| The Set Aside Prayer
An old sponsor of mine (and I've been through a few on my journey) told me to write this is the front of my Big Book. I was going through the typical disasterous relapse cycle after ten years of sobriety, and this one little entry opened my eyes. It was the one single thing that broke the barrier holding me back from a full recovery program. It's a compilation of things said throughout the Big Book and I'm sure it's been posted on SR over the years, but I think it bears repeating. THE SET ASIDE PRAYER "Dear God, please set aside everything I think I know about myself, my disease, the Big Book, the 12 Steps, the Program, the Fellowship, the people in the fellowship, all spiritual terms, and especially about you God, so that I may have an open mind and a new experience with all these things. Please help me see the Truth. Amen"
