| We Do Recover | Welcome LovesToTravel! Glad you joined us. If I may ask--do you have to go on this hayride this weekend? Free alcohol would make the situation quite uncomfortable for me. My last drink--which was October 3rd--was not my drink of choice....which is why I ask the question.

It is sorta a family thing. My 82 year old father is going and he knows that I am not drinking (he never drinks) so I thought it would be ok. We go every year and I never drink much at the party (more of a closet drinker). I guess I hate to miss the little bit of fun that I may have. I was rather looking forward to not drinking at the party.

Great idea- I just want to welcome a new class to our school even though some have been coming to school for awhile. This is the place to be and I do find that sooner or later most of us finally get a diploma. I am from the July 08 class. I did not find this website until Oct 08. I do believe that since I do not attend AA that this site has been my salvation. I am not sure I could have done this without some interaction with others. People who do not have a problem just don't get it. I truly believe that we need to talk ( even if its not F2F) with others who are going through the same things as us. If I could give one word of advice it would be to post and read as much as you can. There will be someone who is thinking or feeling the very same thing you are. There is always someone here who you can chat with. Good luck everyone- it is not easy but it is doable. |

Hi everyone. The weekend is about to kick off here on the east coast. I'm meeting an old high school friend for dinner. No drinking for me (OF COURSE!!!) It's not an option for me anymore. That's how I prefer to think of it. The option is off the table. It takes a little re-training, but food can be enjoyed with non-alcoholic drinks just as well as with wine!! I'll check in later.
